Job Description


In this role, you have the opportunity to Guide the development of design ideas and the team of designers in a project from basic user experience concept to fully worked out design solutions. The position entails liaising with product and marketing management on one side and development teams on the other side. The position calls for a senior designer to facilitate, guide and lead the product program.


You are a part of


Philips Design is the in-house design house of Philips working across multiple domains in healthcare, consumer lifestyle and Research. Located in Gurgaon and Bangalore, Philips Design plays a key role in the entire proposition creation process from facilitating co-creation approach to defining user experience to implementation in products and services.


To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience


  • Knowledge of user experience design tools, standards, sketching and prototyping skills. Knowledge of software programs like Adobe creative suite, design research methodologies, design process. Visual and communication skills, usability principles, practices


  • Education: Academic background in UX design or humanities or Cognitive science with focus on Human-Computer Interaction and Human factors (cognitive ergonomics).


You must have proven knowledge of:


  • Human factors and interaction design principles


  • Usability methodologies, processes and standards, especially for software products


  • Interaction design


  • Prototyping tools for creating mock-ups


  • The healthcare domain (or equivalent professional equipment domain)


Experience:


  • Minimum 4-6 years of usability engineering and UX principles of complex systems - medical devices preferred, e.g., conducting task analysis, providing inputs to to UI/UX design, performing and reporting usability tests.


  • Experience in usability strategy, usability FMEA, formative and summative evaluations.


  • Preferred: good understanding and knowledge of the healthcare domain and clinical workflow in hospitals.


  • Preferred: experience in collaborating with designers and/or creating UI/UX & usability requirements and wireframes


  • Preferred: experience in working effectively in a complex global company.


  • Academic background:


    • Bachelor or Master’s degree in human factors engineering or interaction design or other relevant academic background. 


  •               Proven skills:


    • Ability to write high quality formal documentation for recording the usability activities.


    • Excellent English, written and verbal. 


    • Highly independent and pro-active.


    • Good communication, presentation, and leadership skills.


    • Ability to “speak up” and effectively advocate for user needs and user experience


    • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary professionals, from around the globe.


    • Willing to travel to customer sites and Philips development sites abroad 2-3 times a year
