Job Duties:

Major Role : - Accountable for operating and monitoring the Global Supply Network, as designed, to meet the defined quality targets enabling optimal and efficient facility operations, collaborating with business partners and suppliers as the Relationship Manager for all GSND, and resolving facility specific supplier quality issues. From the initial concern, the Supply Network Quality Engineer will identify, contain and ultimately eliminate the defect. Skills that will be required include Root-Cause-Corrective-Action Analysis (RCCA), 8D, rework and containment plans, and strong communication and collaboration with suppliers.

Customer : - Using ‘ both facility based and global Supply Network’ reporting systems (QSI, ISIR’s, QCIR’s, MRDR’s, POU documentation) this position will communicate supplier corrective action details to ensure that the customer is totally confident in Containment and Final Corrective Action Plans.

Leadership : - This position has no direct reports. The incumbent must exhibit strong leadership qualities to ensure that suppliers agree to and deliver Containment Action and facilitate Program Timing and Final Corrective Action, in accordance with the 8D process. Maintain the highest ethical and professional standards within this diverse global organization.

Supplier Management : - Responsible for maintaining accountability with the suppliers to establish containment plans related to quality discrepancies. Will ensure the supplier is developing corrective action plans to enable operations to continue with minimum disruption.

Top Candidates will have:
  • Manufacturing background plus familiarity with manufacturing processes like Casting, Forging and Forming used to produce components and assemblies for Caterpillar Products.

  • Knowledge of shop operations and maintenance procedures is required.
  • Certifications: ASQE or comparable International Certification is desired

Post PPAP Governance

  • Part & process audit for control plan compliance
  • 4M changes review
  • Review of internal rejection, Quality Gate MFN review, Pilot build RCCA, effectiveness review, production lot feedback
  • Development to production transition sign off review
  • PPAP effectiveness monitoring

Ongoing Quality Governance

  • Periodical process audits & PCN audits to ensure process compliance
  • Stop capability assessment (BIQ)
  • BIQ gate performance and update the check lists as required
  • Provide inputs to SDEs for future developments (Quality history)
  • Visit tier2 suppliers as required (Based on risk & complexity)
  • Collaborate with facility SQEs on ongoing quality issues and RCCAs, PDI/PDD & ECNs
  • Fabrication experience is preferable
  • Travel Min 50%
  • Min 3+ yrs relevant Experience – GD&T, RCCA, BIQ, CMM & other measurement techniques, Auditing Skills
  • High Communication Skill

Additional Information

  • Work Location – Thiruvallur
  • Travel – To travel to all supplier locations in India.
  • % of Travel – 50 – 60 % of the time.
