Baxter leads the market in the treatment of kidney disease through peritoneal dialysis.  This job offers a unique and exciting opportunity to contribute to the design and lifecycle of Baxter’s Kidney Care Digital Solutions R&D portfolio.  

You will be responsible for the developing solutions to drive product development for new and existing components of the Kidney Care Digital Solutions R&D portfolio. The successful candidate will possess solid “hands-on” technical abilities, demonstrate excitement and energy for product development, and a passion for their work and the impact it has on meeting the needs of patients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead design and development workstream as systems lead responsible for ensuring User needs are achievable, technically feasible and demonstrated by test teams.
• Accountable to program scope identification and delivery of program priority
• Drive communications with customers and marketing to develop and refine user requirements.
• Lead design requirements and provide technical guidance to software developers, testers, and suppliers.
• Collaborate with Architects to ensure technical solutions meet program needs
• Ensure user needs are captured, quality requirements are met and technical risks are mitigated
• Define, prioritize, and maintain product feature backlogs for implementation across multiple programs and releases
• Lead the development and documentation of the product systems architecture and systems level design, including the decomposition of the system architecture and requirements into functional specifications.
• Resolve competing constraints between interrelated functions (engineering, clinical, regulatory, marketing, etc.) required to deliver the product to market.
• Lead and mentor team members including product owners, Systems Engineers, and R&D team members in supporting their development growth and delivery of program initiatives.
• Develop and maintain an effective and corroborative working relationship with internal and external development partners. 
• Provide leadership to effectively transition the product to production and ensure robust products and deployment processes.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering or related field and 13-15 years related experience. Prior experience in kidney dialysis a plus.
• A solid technical understanding of the principles and procedures of software engineering (e.g. SDLC, IEC 62304, CMMI, Agile).
• Have a proven track record of management/leadership effectiveness in a fast paced environment.  
• Proven ability to create results within budget, timeline, and product/project deliverables.
• Desired: A demonstrated track record in regulated software development, preferably medical devices or other highly regulated products such as aviation software.
