About the department


You will join our team of architects, developers, analysts, and data engineers in Data Management & Analytics. It’s a global, high performing department with a variety of technical, analytical, and multinational backgrounds. We are expanding our offerings to the global organisation, so we need extra resources to succeed with our journey and ambitious vision. We do data acquisition and ingestion; data analysis and data engineering; evangelising the use of data and advanced analytics; and supporting data science users of our platform. We are cloud native and we work primarily on AWS. We deliver solutions using Scrum methodology. We have built and are operating the enterprise data lake, data mesh and data science platform on AWS to support our vision, which is to be able to deliver world class management of data.  The overarching goal is to use data to gain new understandings and insights, drive optimisations and create true value to Novo Nordisk and the patients we serve. The position


The position will be responsible for managing and leading the implementation of Data Hub solutions within Novo Nordisk.  You will also be responsible for leading the team of Data Engineers and Analysts to deliver the needs to DMA towards Line of Business. An ideal candidate expected to be proactive in engaging in close dialogue with vendors, System managers and stakeholders across the globe to understand needs and usage patterns in order to recommend changes to your services and/or investments in future technologies. The responsibilities include :


  • Architect and implement a re-usable, on-demand, scalable, reliable, and secure Python Backend on AWS. Develop, optimize, and fine-tune cloud infrastructure using best practices, ensuring high availability, performance, scalability, and cost efficiency. 
  • Monitor and troubleshoot cloud infrastructure, addressing any issues or performance bottlenecks.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in cloud technologies and data analytics tools, recommending and implementing relevant improvements and innovations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications and solutions.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand their requirements and provide technical guidance and support. Mentor and provide technical leadership to junior team members, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
  • Document technical designs, processes, and procedures to ensure effective knowledge transfer and maintain a repository of best practices.

Qualifications


We Expect you to hold the below skills and knowledge:


  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
  • Solid experience (best 7+ years) working as a Cloud Engineer, with a focus on cloud-based data analytics solutions.
  • Expert knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS (preferred), Azure, or Google Cloud, with hands-on experience in deploying and managing cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker.
  • Deep understanding of cloud security best practices and the ability to implement security measures for data protection and compliance.
  • Familiarity with DevOps best practices and tools for continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD).
  • Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as Python (preferred), TypeScript (preferred), Go or Rust.
  • Experience with Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD) or Test-Driven Development (TDD).
  • Experience with creating and managing GraphQL APIs is a plus.
  • Experience with the following AWS services is a plus: Lake Formation, S3, Glue, Athena, Lambda, CodePipeline, Fargate, SNS/SQS, IAM, Quicksight, RDS.
  • It is a bonus if you have experience working with Data analytics tools such as Databricks, Snowflake, Grafana, Rstudio and authentication standards such as SAML.
  • Good communication skills especially in managing different stakeholders at all levels. Ability to present complex solutions and information to convince larger groups and key decision makers.
