AddressWe are seeking an experienced and talented Sound Recordist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of audio recording and sound production, and experience in capturing the highest quality audio in various settings. The Sound Recordist will be responsible for assembling, operating, and maintaining the technical equipment used to record, amplify, enhance, mix or reproduce sound across various projects and platforms.
Responsibilities
Production
Assessment and Setup:
Assess the acoustics of the performance area and assemble and operate the necessary equipment.
Consult with producers and performers to determine the sound requirements and apply technical knowledge of sound recording equipment to achieve the artistic objectives.
On-site Recording:
Record sound onto digital audio tape or hard disk recorders in both set and on-location environments.
Monitor audio signals to detect sound-quality deviations or malfunctions and anticipate and correct any problems.
Equipment Management:
Maintain and repair sound equipment as necessary.
Select, position, adjust, and operate the equipment used for amplification and recording.
Post-production
Audio Integration:
Integrate pre-recorded audio (dialogue, sound effects, and music) with visual content.
Re-record and synchronize audio when needed and mix and balance speech, effects, and music.
Sound Editing:
Create and alter sound effects for use in films, television, etc.
Apply post-production techniques to enhance pre-recorded audio.
Team Collaboration:
Work closely with sound teams, directors, sound designers, or sound supervisors to achieve the desired audio outcome.
Cooperate with other departments to ensure the synchronization of audio and visual content.
Qualifications & Experience
Degree or diploma in Sound Engineering, Audio Production, or related field.
Proven experience as a Sound Recordist or in a similar role, preferably in film or broadcasting.
Comprehensive knowledge of sound recording equipment and software.
Skills & Competencies
Proficient in using sound recording and editing equipment and software.
Strong technical knowledge of sound recording technology and the equipment used.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to sound recording and reproduction.
Excellent hearing and a good sense of timing and rhythm.
Able to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
