Role Profile


Foundation Services, part of the LSEG Infrastructure & Cloud organisation, are searching for a Director level position to lead Site Reliability and drive a professional, best in class, approach to service operations across the Production infrastructure environment.


Foundation Services operates globally with around 600 people in functionally aligned teams across Data Centres, Storage, Platforms, Database, Middleware and the virtualized Private Cloud.


This role will own the Site Reliability & Service Management function, as a horizontal across those technical pillars, to drive improvements across the infrastructure estate and increase business context and service centricity across all teams. The SRE director will drive enhanced training, practice scenario drills, increased use of automation to reduce manual risk and process optimisation to deliver greater maturity on incident handling, change preparation and problem management read across opportunities.


Key responsibilities of the role:


  • Leads by example implementing Production Service Improvement and Site Reliability Book of Work across the Foundation Services division.


  • Owns stability into business-critical services, leads key collaborator meetings, role models leadership behaviours, mentors teams and establishes credibility through quality service management, communication and technical execution.


  • As the global Site Reliability lead, consults with partners and teams both internally and externally on the execution of complex projects and operational events such as Disaster Recovery testing, identifying, prioritising, and coordinating staffing and readiness for significant infrastructure changes. and Production service operations.


  • Cultivates, develops, and adopts innovative/automated technical solutions to improve major infrastructure components, systems, and features to improve the availability, incident response, scalability, latency, and efficiency of LSEG’s services.


  • Accountable for incident response, problem, change and production improvements that deliver a step-change uplift in critical metrics such as MTTR, reduction of Major Incidents and drives improved Site Reliability processes and consistent levels of service management approach within division.


  • Proactively continues to build and apply relevant business domain knowledge that may relate to workflows, data pipelines, business policies, configurations and constraints.


Leadership responsibilities


  • Leads by example on Production Service Management, ensuring that all teams are trained and practiced in appropriate service management standards, methodologies, policies and understand their role in service delivery


  • Ensures resource allocation aligns with business priorities and determine solutions for more optimal utilisation of resources.


  • Drives High Performance by provides guidance on increasing availability and performance of critical services, building automation to prevent problem recurrence, and building efficient, automated responses for non-exceptional service conditions.


Knowledge & Behaviours


  • Extensive experience in delivering critical Production Infrastructure Services in global Financial Services industry or similar regulated organisations, applying ITIL/Service Management methodologies and standard processes.


  • Grows Business and Technical expertise, with functional knowledge of Production Site Reliability in areas such as Data Centre, Storage, Private Cloud, Server Management, Database, Middleware, Directory Services & Cyber/Authentication technologies.


  • People leadership and cross-team engagement with experience of working with multi-country organisations and complex post-merger integration programmes with significant business impact


Personal skills and capabilities


  • Exceptional leadership and influencing skills. Consistent track record of ability to influence broadly across multiple functions and establish significant relationships with executive leadership.


  • Experience of efficiently planning and delivering large-scale sophisticated Technology integration and Technology transformation programmes. Confident in principles of project/programme management.


  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Able to adapt style and convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.


  • Highly skilled defining critical path to drive outcomes by agreeing actions across multi-functional teams including vendors, internal teams, and international business units, promoting knowledge capture and use within and across teams.
