The Job

As a Shopify store manager your responsibilities will revolve around creating, optimising, and maintaining e-commerce websites using the Shopify platform. Your primary objective is to ensure that the online store is visually appealing, functional, user-friendly, and optimised for business success.


Key Responsibilities


  • Team Leadership

    • Provide leadership and direction to the team.

    • Mentor and support team members, fostering a collaborative work environment.

    • Conduct regular team meetings and performance reviews.
  • Project Management

    • Oversee multiple projects simultaneously.

    • Collaborate with other departments (such as product management, engineering, and marketing) to ensure cohesive project execution.

    • Develop project timelines and manage resources to meet deadlines.

    • Optimise resource allocation to maximise efficiency and productivity.


  • Shopify Store Setup

    • Assist in the initial setup of a Shopify store, including configuring settings, choosing themes, and customising the store's appearance.

    • Ensure that the store is optimised for user experience and mobile responsiveness.
  • Theme Customisation

    • Customise Shopify themes to align with the brand and design requirements of the business.

    • Implement design changes, CSS modifications, and other adjustments to enhance the visual appeal of the store.
  • Product Management

    • Upload and manage product listings, including product descriptions, images, and pricing.

    • Optimise product pages for SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) to improve search rankings.
  • Payment and Checkout Configuration

    • Configure payment gateways and ensure a smooth and secure checkout process.

    • Implement and optimise features like discount codes, gift cards, and abandoned cart recovery.
  • App Integration

    • Integrate and configure third-party Shopify apps to extend the functionality of the store.

    • Evaluate new apps and recommend those that can enhance the store's performance.
  • Analytics and Reporting

    • Set up and configure Google Analytics or other analytics tools to track and analyse website traffic and user behaviour.

    • Generate reports and provide insights to improve the store's performance.
  • Performance Monitoring

    • Monitor the performance of the Shopify store, identifying and addressing issues related to speed, responsiveness, and overall functionality.

    • Implement optimisations to enhance the website's performance.
  • Security and Compliance

    • Ensure that the Shopify store adheres to security best practices.

    • Stay informed about and implement compliance requirements related to e-commerce and online transactions.
  • Continuous Improvement

    • Stay updated on Shopify updates, new features, and industry trends.

    • Recommend and implement improvements to keep the store competitive and user-friendly.
  • Strategic Planning

    • Work closely with senior management to align strategies with overall business goals.
  • Collaboration

    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, developers, marketers, and other stakeholders.

    • Bridge the gap between other departments to ensure a unified approach to product development.
  • Skill Development

    • Identify skill gaps within the team and facilitate training or professional development opportunities.

    • Stay updated on industry trends and encourage continuous learning among team members.
  • Quality Assurance

    • Review and approve final work before implementation.

    • Ensure that deliverables meet high standards of quality and align with project objectives.
  • Communication

    • Effectively communicate strategies, rationales, and solutions to the team and stakeholders.

    • Present concepts and progress updates to leadership and other relevant parties.
About You
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Previous experience in a leadership or managerial role.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a design team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey concepts, strategies, and decisions to team members and stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to develop project timelines, manage resources, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make informed design decisions based on data and user feedback.
  • You have worked within an ecommerce environment.
  • Intelligent, a strong work ethic and an amazing attitude.
