Senior Engineer – Electrical

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Senior Engineer – Electrical to join Rolls-Royce Power System Business. You would be employed directly by Rolls-Royce.
We are actively seeking a highly skilled Genset Installation, Testing, and Commissioning Engineer with a minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in the installation, assembly, and testing of gensets and electrical panels. The ideal candidate should have a strong electrical background, proficiency in interpreting diagrams for panel wiring, experience with LT/HT alternators, and testing capabilities across a range of parameters.

Rolls-Royce Power Systems is headquartered in Friedrichshafen in southern Germany and employs around 9,000 people. The product portfolio includes mtu-brand high-speed engines and propulsion systems for ships, power generation, heavy land, rail and defence vehicles and for the oil and gas industry as well as diesel and gas systems and battery containers for mission critical, standby and continuous power, combined generation of heat and power, and microgrids.
Key accountabilities:
- Possess a minimum of 10 years of experience to install, assemble, and test gensets and electrical panels in accordance with project specifications.
- Understand and interpret electrical diagrams, executing panel wiring as per provided drawings.
- Utilize expertise in handling LT/HT alternators and associated circuits.
- Configure and test protection relays and genset controllers.
- Conduct insulation tests for alternators and cables.
- Handle measurement data acquisition systems
- Demonstrate proficiency with DVR software
- Monitor panels and cables during testing
- Troubleshoot genset control and auxiliary systems
- Perform a range of testing on breaker panels including Design Verification.
- Check, Torque Test, Ductor Test ,High Pot Test, Breaker Operation Test, Primary Injection Test, Secondary Injection Test, ATS/Breaker Interlock Test, BMS/SCADA and Metering Verification, Overcurrent and Earth Fault Relay Test, Other Protection Relay Test, Ammeter and Voltmeter Test, and Switchboard Control Function Test.
- Familiarity with genset testing procedures in compliance with ISO 8528-5 and 8528-12
- Effectively collaborate with project teams, conduct scoping meetings, and contribute to team building efforts.
- Actively participate in cross-functional teamwork, fostering a collaborative work environment
- Strong troubleshooting skills for genset control and auxiliary systems
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical engineering or related field
