Summary
Responsible for assisting in the implementation and maintenance of the enterprise Risk Management Framework (RMF). Operates independently with general supervision; has strong conceptual and technical knowledge of enterprise Risk Management principles, methodologies, related global regulatory requirements, the established RMF and associated Standards and processes. Acts in a risk consulting, program coordination and RMF compliance oversight role. Provides consultation and advice and technical support to partners globally regarding RMF requirements and embedding in Risk Management policies/processes and approaches. Administers enterprise driven risk identification and reporting processes and associated end-user owned tools enabling these processes. Assists in determining priorities for ongoing evolution of the RMF and end-user owned tools.
Major Duties
  • Perform RMF embedding coordination and oversight from an administration and technical perspective with limited, general supervision in accordance with RMF requirements
  • Respond to frequent questions, queries and requests regarding the RMF and RMF Team administered processes
  • Administer the enterprise Risk Inventory and coordinate the periodic update and approval process
  • Administer the quarterly Enterprise Risk Profile reporting process including maintaining reporting calendar, supporting partners in resolving RMF / reporting questions and technical issues with supporting tools, and ensuring timely completion and certification by reports by their owners ahead of reporting deadlines
  • Maintain written guidance on the appropriate execution of Risk Inventory and Enterprise Risk Profile reporting processes in procedures and other documents, such as communication templates, supplemental practice guidelines and training materials.
  • Administer routine system maintenance processes for end user tools supporting the Risk Inventory and Enterprise Risk Profile reporting processes
  • Assist in defining requirements, overseeing periodic development and executing user acceptance testing and deployment for Risk Inventory and reporting system development enhancements
  • Assist in maintaining processes to identify RMF compliance issues and general themes for ongoing evolution and sustainability of the RMF
  • Assist in periodic review and timely update and approval of RMF governing documents and supporting Standards
  • Support overall training effort to promote understanding of Risk Management fundamentals and the RMF throughout the company
  • Perform other activities or ad hoc requests as needed
Knowledge/Skills
  • Strong conceptual and technical knowledge of Risk Management principles, methodologies and Northern Trust’s business
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly grasp business context, explain complex or sensitive issues and problem solve
  • Strong written and verbal communication, cross functional coordination and consensus building skills
  • Proven process management and process improvement skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to design, optimize, prioritize and oversee execution of system development efforts
Experience Required
  • Must possess a Bachelor’s/College Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Studies or related field of study
  • Five to seven years of experience in finance, Risk Management, compliance, audit or related fields in the financial services industry
