Job description

Position Overview:
The Senior Program Associate in Girls Education and Gender Equality (Accelerator) spends time to assist Senior Program officer to implement program with quality and carrying out all activities of GEGEP Accelerator in state. The position will be based in State office and will involve frequent travel to field. The work will entail providing support to GEGEP Sr.PO in Documentation of all activities, draft quality case stories/success stories and planning of PC training and Teachers and wardens training. He or she will also be responsible for strengthening linkages with like- minded organisations, liasioning with block/district level officials, regular program and financial tracking, collecting program data and entering it into RtRs database and determining and delivering material support for girls participating in the program. The Program Associate reports to the Senior Program Officer.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Support to Senior Program officer (Planning, Reporting and Documentation):
  • To document each programmatic activities with the support of Program Coordinators.
  • To short list the ideas of Change from the accelerator institutions and work on the stories to make it impactful.
  • Participate in regular trainings and meetings with Room to Read staff.
  • Participate in donor site visits and provide information to donors about Room to Read’s Girls’ Education Program as needed.
  • Collect data from monthly reports of program coordinators and provide compilation to SPO.
  • Analysis of program data and share report to SPO.
  • Document best practices, case studies, photos and lessons learned and share with SPO.
  • Documentation of donor Reports, including case studies, best practices and lessons learned including donor field visits.
  • Work on the concept notes of the program district or state specific.
Liasioning, networking and building linkages at the field, block and district level:
  • Plan and organize trainings and meetings for government officials (block and district level).
  • Building linkages with like-minded organisations for referral services for girls after discussing with Senior Program Officer.
  • Take lead to build up networks for girls’ education at district level with the support of POs.
  • Take Senior Program Officer for creating visibility of GEP in District and support POs for creating visibility at State level. Also, she will look after logistic arrangements of state level visibility event.
Ensuring Quality program at the field level:
  • Share learnings from INCO level review meetings.
  • Understand and work on factors that may impede quality and fidelity on the field.
  • Tracks to see if quality standards are being met and provide updates to PO.
  • Use LS observations form and basis this provides feedback to Program coordinators.
  • Analyses the availability of materials for LS session, mentoring and material support and provides corrective feedback to program Coordinators as needed.
Annual planning and budgeting:
  • Participate in the annual planning and budgeting process.
  • Ensure budget forecasting for the month and submit bills timely with support of the program Assistant.
  • Support SPO in expense tracking, fund projection and fund requests.
Any other:
  • Assist Senior Program Officer for new geographies and school selection.
  • Provide adequate support to ensure smooth functioning to program coordinators.
Reporting relationship:
  • Reports to the GEGEP Senior Program Officer.
Other Significant Relationships to be maintained:
  • Ensure a client orientation in fulfilling requests of GEGEP Accelerator team.
  • Ensure effective liaison with State finance /Admin and HR where required.
Qualifications:
Required:
  • Master’s degree in education/ Social Work/ development/Gender Studies.
  • 4-6 years of relevant work experience in areas of girl’s education, gender and life skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and a team player.
  • Basic MS Office skills.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills including the ability to monitor progress of program.
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously and take initiative.
  • Prior success working closely and building relationships with diverse groups of people.
  • Prior experience in facilitation and/or training.
  • Experience working with and or counselling adolescent girls.
  • Familiarity or experience with gender issues, girls’ education and/or community development.
  • Hindi and English language fluency is mandatory.
Preferred:
  • Prior experience of living and/ working in rural and semi urban areas.
  • Prior experience of working closely with the community, schoolteachers and government officials.
