Mission Statement: The Transportation, Trade & Logistics Manager is responsible for sourcing, planning and execution of heavy lift transportation for the region India & South Asia. You will be part of the Center of Expertise (CoE) Team which consists of diverse highly skilled senior professionals with multinational backgrounds and high integrity.  Your main responsibility is to manage and develop the transportation team including its individual team members and ensure safe and competitive transportation throughout the region. You are expected to continuously develop and optimize the transportation organization, not limited to its processes and operations. You will be the most important link between business units and the operations teams under your responsibility to ensure seamless execution and information between all stake holders.

Responsibilities:

Ensure safe operation for heavy lift transportation by having qualified forwarders managing the heavy lift transportations from our factories to and at the customer sites. Oversee heavy lift operations Initiate and drive implementation of strategic cost savings initiatives and risk mitigation projects.  Be up to date with the latest trade regulations from our trade compliance department and ensure compliance in the region. Ensure all transports are executed with approved suppliers. Ensure that forwarders, factories and service units are working in accordance to the Hitachi Energy standards, processes, roles and responsibilities. Regularly collect demand and ensure adequate level of supply or available supply capacity. Act as first level of escalation for supplier issue resolution / hot topics including claims management both for heavy lift and general cargo related topics. Support international cargo and export and import processes.  Manage strategic sourcing for heavy lift transportation. Negotiate contracts and service level agreements with forwarders with consideration of the business needs. Support factories and service units in their daily sourcing needs. Bundle projects and volumes to create buying power. Divide and allocate volumes between forwarders to ensure lowest sourcing risk and lowest total cost.  Provide heavy lift transportation quotations to tendering teams and project management. Heavy lift transportation budget and forecast responsibility. Budget responsibility of the transportation, trade, and logistic department. Ensure that all the factories and service units are working in accordance with the tariffs and agreements with the forwarders. Analysis cost slippages coming from transportation in large projects to implement lessons learnt for future projects. Cost reduction reporting into SFDB. Ensure that the heavy lift & project Transportation, Trade and Logistic team is properly organized, staffed, and skilled to live up to all points mentioned above.  Guide, motivate, and develop direct and indirect subordinates following HR policies, and coordinate talent management and succession planning within the Transportation, Trade and Logistics organization.

06.  Promote and ensure the proper implementation and rollout of the Center of Expertise (CoE) for General Cargo transports in the Business Units.

07.  Initiate, drive and/or support implementation of strategic cost saving initiatives and risk mitigation projects.

08.  Address and escalate appropriately project activities not compliant with processes and procedures, and/or not meeting savings target.

09.  Be the liaison to the trade compliance organization.

10.  Ensure all operations are executed by approved providers in line with the strategy from the global TT&L organization.

11.  Regularly collect demand and ensure adequate levels of supplier capacity are in place. Work closely with other functions to generate projects and bring value on quality, cash, transit time, material availability and costs.

12.  Support tender management to ensure business requirements are met.

13.  Support international cargo, export and import processes.

14.  Drive results towards common targets and KPIs.

15.  Follow-up on the general cargo spend, saving evolution and market trends.

16.  Ensure that all the factories in your area of responsibility are working aligned with the global tariffs and agreements with suppliers.

17.  Forecasting of the yearly spend and savings for transport activities.

18.  Support and consult the factories in transport cost control.

Your background:

01.  University degree in Supply Chain Management, Economics, Foreign Trade, Business Administration or equivalent.

02.  Minimum 10 years of experience in supply chain management, transportation management, logistics or equivalent. Large plus if you have experience of Power Transformer industry.

03.  Good knowledge of customs regulation, legal, contractual, and commercial terms.

04.  Strong cost and technical analytical skills (cost breakdown, value chain, total cost of ownership, etc.)

05.  Self-starter who drives projects until the end. Good management, communication, negotiation, planning and organization skills.

06.  Hands on experience on various Microsoft tools & SAP Applications.

07.  Strong Planning & Sourcing Skills.

08.  Good influencing skills and stakeholder management.

09.  Ability to work independently and under pressure.

10.  Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.

11.  Excellent analytical skills with the capability to transform data into actionable plans.

12.  Fluent in English in a MUST, other languages are a plus.

13.  Flexibility to travel 20%.
