About you and this role


You are a Mechanical Engineer with experience in Rotating Equipment design. You enjoy working on a team and have a strong technical knowledge base that requires minimal supervision as it is well versed in Preparation of Equipment Specifications, Datasheets, Request for Quotations, Vendor Document Reviews, Quality and Team Checks, and Review of Inspection Reports.


Also, you are competent in the following tasks:


  • Focus on safety in your designs and when on project sites.
  • Meet and correspond with suppliers and/or external personnel on as-needed basis.
  • Participate in rotating equipment inspections and testing.
  • Develop detailed rotating equipment installation and operation instructions, as applicable.
  • Provide technical support during construction and operation of facility, as applicable.
  • Participate in the development of new or improved Rotating Equipment Discipline work processes and/or global standards and specifications related to rotating equipment.
  • Mentor your peers in the application of design tools and work process methodology.

Responsibilities


  • Lead Rotating Equipment Engineering of Large Capital Projects, supporting Front End Loading (FEL) as well as Detailed Design/Construction phases.
  • Manage quality of deliverables, schedules, work-hour budgets, weekly/monthly status reporting, and effectively lead the Mechanical Discipline team, while coordinating diligently with other project Disciplines, e.g.: Process Engineering, Piping, Civil, etc.
  • Create technical specifications of Pumps, Blowers, Agitators, Packaged Units, Air Compressors, Cooling Towers, Dryers, Filters, Chemical Injection Skids, Material Handling Units and other rotating equipment; develop rotating equipment Datasheets and Layouts; review/approve client specifications; prepare procurement inquiry packages; technically evaluate bids, and issue order packages for rotating equipment; coordinate review of supplier’s drawings/data; supplier’s coordination; supplier quality/inspection coordination and supervise other Mechanical engineers, designers, and modelers assigned to the project.
  • Coordinate the input of supplier design data into the overall project design.
  • Coordinate additional discipline requirements into the design of rotating equipment.
  • Provide advanced technical direction to other Mechanical engineers, designers, and modelers on a project task force.

Qualifications


  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • At least 10 years of experience with Rotating Equipment.
  • Must be willing and able to meet all applicable requirements related to business travel (e.g., as to immigration and visa rules, public-health mandates, airline rules, etc.) into and out of (and physical presence in) various countries worldwide up to 10% to perform inspections or monitor project execution at supplier’s shops.
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, and organizational skills as well as a desire to excel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (Written and Verbal) with strong interpersonal communication skills as frequent communications are expected with Equipment Suppliers / Vendors, project team members, stakeholders, and other engineering centers. A team player with flexibility and agility.

Preferred Skills


  • A master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Detailed exposure to International Codes and Standards like: API, ANSI,
  • ASME, ISO, ASME VIII DIV-1, ASME IX, and other engineering related industry standards.
  • Proficiency in both Zyqad (Datasheet creation software) and Adept (Document Control software).
  • Strong work ethic and being able to remain productive in an empowered team environment.
  • Ensuring a safe work environment by working safely and complying with environmental, health and safety standards.

Central Engineering executes most new and major expansions of chemical facilities for Dow and consists of locations in Houston, Texas and Chennai, India.
