Role description
The Engineer Private Cloud will provide operational support for the LSEG Private Cloud infrastructure.
The role consists of but is not limited to:
- Administer (monitor, support, prevent, maintain, fix, improve) the virtual and physical Private Cloud infrastructure.
- Provide project support as required.
- Provide shift & weekend coverage and on call where required.
Key Skills
- Virtualisation technologies (VMware vSphere, vSAN, NSX-T, etc..)
- HP servers incl. HP Blades/c7000 enclosures, HP OneView
- HDS VSP/HNAS knowledge, including replication technologies (TrueCopy/HUR), Dell/EMC SAN
- Ability to support a virtual environment with above technologies.
- Excellent investigation and troubleshooting skills of complex issues.
- Capability to determine and highlight risks (migration risks, design risks etc.) to Management.
- Scripting skills (PowerCLI) of advantage

Key expectations
- To assist in the proactive prevention of issues by means of monitoring the virtual and physical infrastructure. Fixing any occurring faults where possible and escalating where necessary any irresolvable problems to the Tower Lead, Shift Lead and Management.
- To ensure that co-ordination and communication between the service desk/help desk and the technical support teams is being maintained in system critical situations.
- To ensure that all documentation and procedures are kept up to date, making changes where necessary.
- To ensure effective, pro-active monitoring and management – including capacity and performance management - is in place for all relevant systems.
- To ensure that system downtime is kept to a minimum and system recovery meets the required service level.
- To evaluate standards and processes that the support team is involved with and highlight any areas of improvement.
- To implement and maintain shift, out-of-hours and weekend support as appropriate.
- To provide regular management reporting.
- To undertake any other duties as may be required by LSEG management on an ad-hoc basis.
- To work, where relevant, with the BCCP/Security team to ensure effective security measures are being implemented.
- Ensure disaster recovery procedures are in place and regular testing, reporting and planning updates are undertaken.
- Knowledge of working within an ITIL environment.
