R&D Electrical Engineer

You will be working as R&D Electrical Engineer and will be part of Electrification business for Smart Power division based in Bangalore, India. In this role you will be reporting to R&D Unit Lead and will be responsible for utilizing your extensive skills and technical expertise to develop, enhance and validate analog and digital circuits, in order to satisfy the mission critical power protection product market specification. You will be contributing significantly to initiatives related to ABB’s Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS) products.

Your responsibilities

• Maintaining awareness of state-of-art technology, as well as ABB products and technologies, identifying and understanding technical drivers for R&D projects in own area
• Driving root cause analysis and corrective action for issues found during R&D and qualification testing alongside the development, quality and test engineering teams
• Understanding what creates customer value in own R&D projects and project portfolio of own organization and works to improve operations and increase customer satisfaction according to incoming requests
• Individuating and selecting PCB components for new design or alternative solutions
• Developing and implementing analog and digital circuits from early concept phase to validation in representative tests, including technology research and validation of its applicability
• Creating of schematics and definition of constraints for PCB layout, defining of verification specifications and execution of verification activities of your designs by simulation and prototype testing

Your background

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering
• Require 5-10 years of experience
• Experience in microelectronic component selection
• Sound knowledge in designing digital and analog electronic circuits, circuit diagrams, and simulation tools
• Advanced knowledge of PCB design tools, such as Altium, Allegro, etc
• Comprehensive knowledge of ECN’s (Engineering Change Notifications), BOM’s (Bill of Materials), and documentation systems
• Experience with failure investigations and Root Cause & Corrective Action Analysis (RCCA)
