In India, Jhpiego works across various states in close collaboration with national and state governments, providing technical assistance in the areas of family planning, maternal and child health, strengthening human resources for health, and non-communicable diseases. These programs are funded by USAID, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the David & Lucile Packard Foundation, the Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF), and other anonymous donors.

Jhpiego is seeking highly motivated Program Officers based in various states for its USAID-funded RISE project to coordinate efforts in tackling the growing challenge of Zoonoses and AMR. The Program Coordinator will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of the Health Security and AMR project at the state level. The incumbent will assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of activities related to zoonotic disease prevention, animal health surveillance, and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) control. The position will report to the State Program Manager/Officer.


  • Logistical Support:
    • Assist in organizing workshops, training sessions, meetings, and events related to the project.
    • Coordinate logistical arrangements, including venue booking, travel arrangements, and catering.
  • Administrative Tasks:
    • Provide administrative support, including document management, filing, and all information entry.
    • Assist in maintaining project records, reports, and documentation.
  • Communication and Coordination:
    • Facilitate communication between project team members, stakeholders, and partners.
    • Maintain regular communication with state-level program managers and other project staff.
    • Facilitate intersectoral collaboration efforts among animal health, human health, wildlife, and other relevant sectors.
    • Assist in coordinating engagement with local stakeholders and partners.
    • Support the organization of stakeholder meetings and consultations.
    • Assist state program managers in effectively implementing project activities, providing technical support and coordination.
  • Reporting:
    • Assist in collecting information relevant to project activities.
    • Support the preparation of progress reports, presentations, and other project-related documents.
    • Contribute to monitoring project activities and tracking progress against set targets.
    • Assist in gathering information for project evaluation and assessment.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping:
    • Maintain accurate records of project activities, expenditures, and correspondence.
    • Organize and archive project-related documents for easy retrieval.
  • Miscellaneous
    • Any tasks assigned by the supervisor or the head of the department of the Center for One Health

  • Post-graduate qualifications in Management, Public Health, Computer Science, and Statistics are encouraged to apply.
  • 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in animal health, zoonotic diseases, or public health. Relevant experience in project coordination or administrative roles is advantageous.
  • Candidates with a background in Monitoring and Evaluation are encouraged to apply.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive information related to health.
  • Strong organizational skills, adept at managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and technology for communication and information management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Capable of handling implementation information within project management settings.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently when necessary.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
  • Familiarity with the Indian public health system, including knowledge of the National Health Mission and Ayushman Bharat.
  • Competent in using technology for communication and information management.
  • Comfortable working under pressure and handling diverse assignments.
  • Ability to multitask and collaborate in multicultural teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders.

Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time
