Role Summary:
The Ocean Pricing Manager is a strategic role designed for a dynamic and analytical leader who will spearhead our company's pricing strategies to drive growth and profitability. This individual will be at the forefront of market analysis, pricing analytics, and competitive pricing strategies across all product lines and services. The ideal candidate will possess a robust analytical skill set, coupled with a strategic mindset to enhance our company's market positioning and financial performance.
Responsibilities:
- Develop pricing strategies to maximize profitability while remaining competitive in the freight forwarding industry.
- Analyse market trends, competitor pricing, and customer requirements to adjust pricing structures accordingly.
- Collaborate with sales, operations, teams to ensure alignment of pricing strategies with overall business goals.
- Prepare and present pricing proposals to prospective clients, taking into account factors such as volume, distance, mode of transportation, and service level.
- Negotiate pricing agreements with customers and carriers to secure mutually beneficial contracts.
- Maintain pricing databases and documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and regulations.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements that may impact pricing strategies and freight forwarding operations.
- Provide training and guidance to sales and customer service teams on pricing policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on special projects and initiatives related to pricing optimization and revenue management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, Economics, Finance, Statistics, or a related field; master's degree or MBA preferred.
- A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in pricing, finance, or a related analytical field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with a proven ability to utilize data and analytics to drive decision-making.
- Experience with statistical analysis, financial modelling, and pricing software/tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage directly with senior leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams in a fast-paced and changing environment.
- Deep understanding of the market dynamics and competitive landscape in the industry.
