Job title:Mechanical Architect

In this role, you have the opportunity for design, development and Supplier co-ordination on various programs spanning across functions within Philips to deliver a complete product development for IGT Mobile Surgery (MOS) business.

  • The Mechanical Architect is technically responsible for the correct functioning of the integrated sub-systems
  • Defines the structure of the subsystem that is to be developed, based upon customer requirements/product specifications and technology trends in a way that it’s divided into separate components and/or modules.
  • Formulates the technical roadmap for their subsystem, conducts PRP studies and/or innovation studies, and leads the introduction of new technologies.
  • Comes to an understanding with E2E development concerning the hardware/Mechanical and software interfaces and other development architects concerning interfaces.
  • By means of planned reviews they ensure - from a technical point of view - that the efforts of the individual developers remain focused on properly functioning subsystems.


 

You are responsible for

  • Creation of the Mechanical architecture in modular, easy to maintain and extendible (components and modules) and re-usable. Ensure that the proposed architecture would have the safety and reliability features build in and that that architecture meets the performance criteria.
  • Lead the introduction of new technologies. Formulating the technical roadmap, relevant for the subsystem considering technologies, application trends, conducts Concept & Feasibility studies. Technically responsible for the subsystem in (sub-) projects.
  • Delegate, control and verify that the electronics are built according to the architecture. Verify that the integration is according to the architecture. Ensure the mutual consistency and efficient integration of the separate components in modular, easy-to-maintain electronics that meets the product specification.
  • Guide the Mechanical Engineers & Designers in the design and implementation of the parts of a subsystem.
  • Managing R&D relationships with Engineering service suppliers.Supervising design activities at the design partner, participating in design reviews and risk assessments (e.g. FMEA) and monitoring (technical) progress and technical risk mitigation.
  • Has an important say in the choice of development environment and has ultimate responsibility for the top-level design.
  • Networks with colleagues within BU and beyond and maintains external contacts for benchmarking, new technologies, tooling, design methods, and reflects them to the group.

You are a part of the Mechatronics Team in R&D reporting directly to Head  - Mechatronics, having global headquarter of Mobile Surgery based out of Pune. Healthcare Innovation Center (HIC) is playing a key role in Philips global strategy for Image-Guided Therapy. With Philips HIC, the foundation was laid to touch billions of lives and reiterate Philips commitment towards Indian and growth healthcare markets.

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • Masters or Bachelors in mechanical engineering with 15+ years of experience
  • Ability to technically lead a team with a Domain Expertise in Machine Design, Mechanism Design, Materials and Value Engineering
  • Analytical, creative, and intellectual thinker, with ability to perform mechanical design calculations & verify the designs
  • Solid Knowledge of Manufacturing processes like Sheet Metal & Fabrication / Plastic / Machining while designing
  • Excellent command on, skills like Reliability, DFSS (Design for Six Sigma), Risk Analysis, DFMEA, DFM, GD & T, Tolerance Stack up Analysis, etc
  • Exposure to International Medical Quality and Regulatory Standards e.g. IEC, FDA, CFR, MDD, UL, CE, CSA, BIS etc. is strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of CAD And Simulation Tools like ProE / SolidWorks / Windchill / Ansys Classic / Ansys Workbench is desirable
  • Good to have experience in the field of Medical Devices product design e.g. X-Ray Machines, Ultrasonic Machines, Mammography etc. is highly desirable
