Roles & Responsibilities

Job Summary: In the role of M / AM Lab & Testing at PTC’s AMTC BU, the individual will assume responsibility for the oversight and management of various testing and inspection of casting processes, with a focus on ensuring high-quality and accuracy in testing and inspection of casting components. This position demands background in quality, lab testing, and metallurgy coupled with a commitment to upholding rigorous quality and testing standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervising quality and technical operations in the lab as the Quality and Testing Manager.
• Ensuring adherence to industry regulations, environmental standards, and safety protocols relevant to melting operations.
• Validating chemical and mechanical testing methodologies for industrial castings.
• Authorizing test reports generated from chemical and mechanical testing procedures.
• Assessing and approving vendors for inspection and calibration of testing equipment.
• Acquiring certified reference materials essential for chemical and mechanical testing.
• Conducting Inter-Laboratory Comparison (ILC) assessments to evaluate lab competency in accordance with NABL requirements.
• Performing quarterly intermediate checks to ensure ongoing functionality of Lab equipment.
• Coordinating with external vendors for third-party testing of industrial castings.
• Managing invoice processing for outsourced testing projects.
• Conducting re-tests and duplicating tests for operators to evaluate their testing competency.
• Coordinating with AMC or third-party service provider for Preventive Maintenance (PM) of Lab equipment.
• Managing spare parts and consumables for the lab equipment and initiating indent requests when necessary.
• Creating and maintaining Quality Management System (QMS) documents compliant with NABL standards and ISO 9001/14001/45001/ AS9100.
• Planning and overseeing internal audits, external audits, and customer audits.
• Coordinating with 3rd party inspectors for 3.2 Inspection.
• Issuing Material Test Certificates (MTC) to customers.
• Conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for any internal non-conformance or customer-related Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and preparing Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
• Interacting with NABL accreditation bodies for certification, obligations, and query resolution related to Lab equipment of PTC.
• Utilizing software tools like MS Office, ERP (SYNCRO and NetSuite).
• Implementing 5S practices and maintaining environmental parameters within the lab.

Desired Candidate Profile

Education and Certifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, metallurgical engineering, Production, or a related field.

Experience:

• 4-12 years of proven experience in quality, testing and operations of testing equipment in lab for foundries or casting manufacturing operations.
• Experience in the industrial casting or precision castings industry will be highly preferred

Technical / Functional Expertise & other competencies:

• In-depth knowledge of metallurgical principles, specifically related to aerospace casting alloys.
• Familiarity with lab testing and related quality parameters and standards in precision casting operations.
• Expertise in handling material testing equipment in Lab as per defined SOPs including thorough knowledge of operating parameters involved in quality testing.
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in lab testing equipment such as UTM, Charpy machine etc.,
• Commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance in manufacturing operations.
• Strong team management skills.
• Effective communication skills for collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• In-depth knowledge of ISO-9001/14001/45001 and AS9100 standards
