As the Indirect Taxation professional in our Corporate sector, you will spend each day defining, refining and delivering set goals for our firm
Job responsibilities
- Act as the Tax support team member working closely with the local and global tax team to ensure smooth implementation of the firm’s ongoing or new system changes impacting the tax business. Specific tasks will include, but not limited to;
- Support the team members in performing different types of testing
- Working closely with the business and technology on managing defects (identification, getting fixed, retest etc)
- Assist the team in understanding and documenting the end-to-end impact on the system
- Ensure issues are raised / escalated and driven through to resolution
- Ensure risks & dependencies are highlighted, with mitigation options presented
- Understand, with assistance from tax and data experts, the flow of data and information through JP Morgan’s systems
- Support the design of the target end state and undertake a gap analysis of the current state and the end state
- Work with internal and external consultants to help drive the project forward
- Support the Indirect Tax Technology team in the advancement of the long-term VAT technology strategy
- Understand how business led technology programs and system changes impact VAT processes and implementing changes as necessary
- Establish and maintain an effective communication and engagement model with key contacts within various parts of JP Morgan including Tax, Finance and the Lines of Business stakeholders
- Develop new processes and ensure they are clearly documented, communicated and delivered against success criteria
- Assist Local Management with other team initiatives
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Graduate with at least 3 to 4 years’ of experience in Indirect Tax compliance and Accounting; CA preferred, though not mandatory
- Good understanding of any country’s VAT / GST Law
- Ability to work with, and use, large amounts of data
- Background in financial services operations is an added plus
- Good analytical skills, a problem solver, logical thinker with strong attention to detail
- Excellent written skills with clear, concise & logical documentation
- Good communication, negotiation and relationship management skills
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
- Excellent organization & planning skills
- Team player with ability work with colleagues in a collaborative manner, as well as being able to proactively progress multiple tasks independently
- Knowledge of automation tools (Alteryx / Tableau) or experience with Transformation projects is an added plus
