The Head of Institutional Equities Sales and Dealing on the Sell Side is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of
institutional equity sales and sales trading. This role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of financial markets and products.
1. Team Management: Lead and manage a team of Institutional Equities Sales professionals, sales traders, and support staff. Recruit, train, and develop team members to achieve their full potential.
2. Sales Strategy: Develop and execute sales strategies to increase the firm’s market share and revenue in the Institutional Equities market. Build and maintain relationships with institutional clients.
3. Institutional Equity Trading: Oversee the execution of equity trades on behalf of institutional clients, ensuring best execution practices, compliance with regulations, and efficient trade settlement.
4. Market Analysis: Stay informed about market trends, economic developments, and the competitive landscape. Use this information to make informed decisions about trading strategies and client interactions.
5. Risk Management: Implement risk management procedures to protect the firm and its clients from adverse market movements. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal risk controls.
6. Client Relationships: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with institutional clients. Understand their investment needs, objectives, and risk tolerance, and provide them with tailored solutions and advice.
7. Product Knowledge: Stay updated on a wide range of financial products, including stocks, derivatives, and other equity-related instruments. Provide clients with insights and recommendations based on their investment objectives.
8. Compliance and Regulations: Ensure that all trading activities and sales practices adhere to regulatory requirements, industry standards, and the firm’s internal policies.
9. Performance Tracking: Monitor and evaluate the performance of the Equities Sales and equity dealing teams. Set performance targets and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success.
10. Financial Reporting: Present financial reports to senior management, including revenue and profitability analysis.
