A Fish Hatchery Technician is a professional who works in fish hatcheries, facilities where fish are bred, hatched, and raised for various purposes, such as restocking natural habitats, supporting commercial fisheries, or conducting research. Here are some key responsibilities of a Fish Hatchery Technician:

Responsibilities:

  • Fish Breeding: Engage in the breeding process, ensuring the successful reproduction of fish species in controlled environments.
  • Egg Collection and Incubation: Collect fish eggs, monitor their development, and oversee the incubation process to ensure a healthy hatch.
  • Water Quality Management: Maintain optimal water conditions within the hatchery, including temperature, oxygen levels, and cleanliness, to promote fish health and growth.
  • Feeding and Nutrition: Provide appropriate diets and feeding schedules for different fish species at various life stages to support their growth and development.
  • Disease Prevention and Treatment: Implement measures to prevent and control diseases, including regular health assessments and administering treatments when necessary.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of fish health, growth rates, environmental conditions, and other relevant data for reporting and analysis.
  • Facility Maintenance: Ensure the proper functioning of hatchery equipment, tanks, and systems, and perform routine maintenance tasks.
  • Stocking Programs: Participate in the planning and execution of fish stocking programs to replenish natural populations in rivers, lakes, or other water bodies.
  • Research Support: Assist in research projects related to fish biology, behavior, and genetics.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to local, state, and federal regulations governing fish hatchery operations.

Students with backgrounds in life sciences, including those with degrees in disciplines like BZC (Botany, Zoology, Chemistry), BFC , MFSC (Master of Fisheries Science), Microbiology, and other life sciences fields, are generally considered eligible for positions as Fish Hatchery Technicians.

Salary: ₹15,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
