Overview:

As the Group Product Manager, you will lead a team of passionate Product Managers and Senior Product Managers in Atlassian Data Center, and advance our mission to unleash the potential in every team by driving our enterprise strategy for the on-premise edition of one of our flagship products - Jira Service Management.
You will focus on strategic pillars for the Data Center product line: Scaling our products to deliver performance, high availability, flexible deployment, and centralised control. You will also explore new opportunities to support Atlassian customers in transforming their ITSM processes. Your work will impact thousands of customers including some of the leaders in their industries.

Role Vision:

We are looking for an experienced GPM interested in working on mature products which are mostly feature-complete. Our Data Center strategy is to keep the trust of our largest enterprise customers who use our on-premise software and cannot move to our cloud solutions. In Data Center we are focusing on the following investment pillars:

  • security and compliance

  • performance and scale

  • product quality & incredible support

  • deployment and infrastructure.

As a Product Leader in Data Center, you will have an opportunity to work on some extremely complex problems of Atlassian’s largest customers, who have already crossed many boundaries (e.g. scale, compliance) and continue to do so. The ability to deeply engage with customers (directly or through Field Teams) as well as handle difficult escalation call with empathy and openness is a must.

Data Center products remain mission-critical for many of our customers, while Atlassian’s long-term strategy is focused on Cloud. Our mission in Data Center is to support customers on-premise for as long as they are blocked to move to Atlassian Cloud, but we balance it with initiatives that help customers accelerate their Cloud transformation. And we are extremely lean in doing so. It’s a balancing act.

A DC Product Leader has to be able to paint a compelling retention-oriented mission for the teams by emphasizing the importance of Data Center as a starting point for Cloud transformation for enterprises - supporting customers where they are, delivering on “enterprise must-haves” while being clear on the final destination for customers i.e Atlassian Cloud.

In this role, you will lead a cross-time zone PM team to success by collaborating with colleagues in Australia but also with colleagues in the Jira Service Management Cloud products in India. Keeping this team motivated, engaged, and growing their craft will be one of your focus areas.

We know Data Center will be around for many years to come, but we also know we will have to continue to evolve our strategies around this product line, the more customers get unblocked and are ready to move to Cloud. As a DC product leader, you will be the main driver of potential strategic shifts, working with senior stakeholders across the board.

You are passionate about working with a cross-functional, geographically distributed team to build and deliver mission-critical capabilities for customers. You've got charisma in spades: you're social
and adept at building relationships across product lines and functional groups to make sure we are all on the same page.

On the first day, we’ll expect you to have:

  • Extensive product management experience, ideally working on mature products for enterprise customers

  • Experience building and leading teams of Product Managers to achieve their best

  • Experience building a shared vision, empowering your teams, and delivering high-quality outcomes

  • Proven success at hiring, managing and growing a globally distributed team remotely

  • Significant experience defining the product vision, strategy, and delivering value that solves problems for enterprise customers

  • You are customer-centric, and enjoy working directly with design and engineering to ship delightful products

  • Strong in prioritising among opportunities, balancing the needs of our customers with those of our business, and clearly communicating the rationale behind your decisions

  • Ability to paint a compelling vision to inspire your teams and senior stakeholders

  • Good instincts matched with deep analytical thinking. Comfortable defining and tracking key business and success metrics

  • An effective relationship builder and are able to influence without authority

It's great, but not required if you have:

  • BS/BA with an emphasis in technology, IT or operations; Masters or MBA preferred

  • Experience working on enterprise-focused areas (B2B)

  • Previous experience in the fields of project management, collaboration, and enterprise software
