Job description

You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary Agile team as the UX Research lead focused on defining and driving the experience of our global employees for the Case Team Productivity Product Portfolio focused on multiple genAI products including BCG's Deckster.

You will have the unique opportunity to work on multiple high-visibility while advocating for a user centric approach to product development helping to transform the ways Case Teams and BCG Employees work.

On the product team, the UX Research Lead will be responsible for three key things:

  • Work together with product owners to ensure user research informs product strategy
  • Collaborate with the rest of the team for the execution of product strategy and illustrate how the experience journey improves over time
  • Work as an integral part of an Agile team leading innovation on new digital solutions and products that deliver insights and analytics to help BCG's leadership make informed and better decision.

As a UX Research Lead, we'd hope to see at least 7 years commercial experience; it would help if you'd had experience of working in large, global enterprises. We'd also love to hear from people with familiar with Design Thinking, Agile at Scale and Product design. You'll also need to be comfortable engaging with senior leadership, showcasing your UX work and evidencing the contributions your research and design work have made to the team's broader strategic initiatives.

We'd love to see candidates:

  • who have at least seven years experience solving complex problems and working in complex spaces
  • who have strong interaction design skills and a deep understanding of how to meet user needs and solve user problems
  • who have experience of working in an Agile environment, ideally with an understanding of how to operate Agile at scale
  • who understand the fundamental importance of research and analysis to support their design process and - perhaps more importantly - understand that necessity of their research analysis being outcome-oriented.
  • who have business know-how: Understanding of business metrics and the ability to translate company goals and objectives into digital experiences
  • who are comfortable with - and effective at - liaising with senior leadership; who are able to tell the story of their design in a language that resonates with the audience
  • who understand the importance of being a credible design authority - who can evidence the contributions to broader business initiatives that their designs have achieved
  • Drive and synthesize customer discovery and understanding through qualitative and quantitative research methods, including interviews, surveys, usability testing, ethnographic studies and statistical analysis learning how employees engage and collaborate across a variety of business capabilities and technical systems
  • Facilitate design thinking and working sessions across multiple disciplines to build shared understanding, consensus and forward progress against deliverables
  • Collaborate across functions and diverse teams, including design, product management, engineering, and change management, communicating findings and actionable recommendations relevant to various stakeholders
  • Collaborate with other UX Design professionals to establish and document best practices for consistently gathering and detailing customer understanding while leading research projects, guiding junior researchers, and contribute to building a user-centered culture within their organizations
  • Create sustainable and effective mechanisms for evaluating delivered solutions

You should be comfortable jumping straight into the wide range of design tasks as part of an agile, globally dispersed team. On-the-job learning will go hand-in-hand with guidance and formal training opportunities. You will work on a range of projects and support extended teams with research best practice to enable us to continue keeping our employees at the centre of everything we do. You'll also be part of the broader UX Centre of Expertise, working alongside other UX team members. The UX CoE offers support, guidance and training for all our practitioners, and has in place the processes, methodologies, research and patterns libraries that gives us the support we need to do our best possible work.
