AddressWe are looking for a brilliant Literacy and Science teacher, who can teach in a progressive way to children in multi-age classrooms.
Responsibilities include :
- Teaching English and Science to children in the age group 7-12 years using our progressive Science Curriculum and in-house Literacy Curriculum, aligned with Cambridge
- Co-designing a progressive Literacy curriculum that includes, and is not limited to, Readers Writers workshops, Novel study programs, reading programs, etc
- Designing and conducting Formative and Summative Assessments, aligned with the curricular standards
- Developing strong one-to-one relations with students and parents
- Helping students take charge of their learning
- Documenting student progress for report card
- Assigning classwork and homework as necessary, according to lesson plans
- Modifying teaching styles to fit the learning styles of various students
- Maintaining a well-managed classroom and a positive learning environment
- Conducting parent-teacher meetings and publishing monthly newsletters
- Attending professional development sessions such as training, classroom observations, feedback conversations, etc
- Implementing feedback in a timely and appropriate manner
- Attending in-school and outdoor training and team outings (visits to other schools, field trips, overnight camps, etc) for educational and team-building purposes
Additional responsibilities include :
- Supervise students out of class such as in the hallways
- Participating in parent outreach / marketing initiatives
- Admissions counseling
Skills and Qualifications
- Prior Experience of a minimum of 2 years of having taught Literacy and Science is required.
- Highly proficient in oral written English
- Love for research
- Growth mindset - can reflect critically upon professional experiences to enhance professional effectiveness
- Flexible, friendly, and good at establishing quick rapport with students
- Ability to work in teams
