Job description

Functions and responsibilities

  • Fully responsible for engineering activities from requirements to validation phase and manage design issues post commissioning of assigned system in assigned bid(s) and /or project(s).
  • Lead the interface between the system supplier and the rest of the team involve in the project: engineering team, RAMS team, quality, testing, approvals, purchasing, manufacturing and project management.
  • Follow-up activities of the suppliers throughout the entire lifecycle of the tender + projects.
  • Have detailed knowledge of the electromechanical sub-suppliers. Their strengths, weaknesses and how suitable they are to different project needs.
  • Represent CAF in face of the final customer during the design (e.g. design reviews) and validation phases (e.g. testing activities).
  • Undertake design validation activities related to the Systems under his/her responsibility, and ensure the design is compliant with the System Specification.
  • Follow-up pending issues to sort out the problems that arise during manufacturing, testing and commissioning, warranty activities.

Training required

Qualification:

  • Bachelor or Master Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

Required professional experience

Professional Experience:

  • Experienced (a minimum of 3 years) in railway sector in Systems engineering and testing of Propulsion & Energy.
  • Candidates with experience of other systems in addition to Propulsion & Energy will be preferred.

Technical and/or practical knowledge valued

  • Follow-up pending issues to sort out the problems that arise during manufacturing, testing and commissioning, warranty activities.
  • Manage all technical documentation applicable to the Systems under His/Her responsibility (technical description, functional description, test procedures, configuration list, supply list, …). And link it with Requirement Management.
  • Be fully familiar and conversant with department and company policies, procedures and processes, ensuring all work and actions undertaken are in full compliance with them.
  • Project follow up and reporting for Systems activities to Project/Tender team and to reporting manager.
  • Proactively working to contribute to a continuous improvement culture, raising opportunities for improvement whenever these are identified.
  • Manage quality, cost and risk for the assigned system along with the tender/project team and within specified timelines.
