Distributed Systems Escalation Engineer


This role has been designated as ‘Hybrid’ with an expectation that you will work on average 2-3 days per week from an HPE office.

Job Description:


In the HPE Chief Technology Office, we lead the innovation agenda and technology roadmap for all of HPE. This includes managing the design, development, and product portfolio of our next-generation cloud platform, Green Lake. Working with customers, we help them reimagine their information technology needs to deliver a simple, consumable solution that helps them drive their business results. What you'll do:

Customer Solution Centers are made up of teams that provide remote (offsite) service; customer access, pre-sales, post-sales, and service delivery. Technical teams focus is to solve various business systems and applications problems for customers, onsite engineering personnel and Authorized Service Providers on standard, specialized or complex systems.

Responsibilities:

Actas a senior Escalation Engineer handling high priority issues on the HPE Data Fabric Platform

  • Troubleshooting complex issues with the HPE Data Fabric Platform including the distributed filesystem, NoSQL database and security components
  • Managing highly demanding critical customer accounts under pressure to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Utilizing strong analytical skills to dig deep into the problem, reproducing in-house, performing root cause and working with HPE's Data Fabric Engineering team when needed
  • Coordinating with Engineering on product defects, testing and patch delivery to customers. Maintaining all communication and drive prompt closure of cases through HPE's Data Fabric Support team

Act as a sustaining engineer handling software enhancements to improve supportability and addressing product defects

  • Developing supportability tools to be packaged with the HPE Data Fabric Platform to improve customer experience and reduce case time to resolution.
  • Developing software fixes for product defects in coordination with HPE's Data Fabric Engineering team

Perform knowledge sharing and training to facilitate team growth and scalability

  • Capturing best practices as part of the engagement and writes knowledge articles for self-service
  • Provide core platform training to new team members and new product release enablement to HPE's Data Fabric Support organization
  • Perform hands on testing with early release product features and provide feedback and defect reports to QA and Engineering

What you need to bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • 7-10 years in a Customer Support position handling high priority issues and escalations
  • Experience in leading or providing expertise to cross-functional teams or projects
  • Very good know-how in a Distributed Systems environment

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Programming language experience: Java, Python, and C/C++
  • Java/C++ development skills would be beneficial
  • Advanced knowledge of Linux operating system administration and troubleshooting tools
  • Knowledge of software build tools and experience analyzing core files
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in language to be supported.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills in a technical environment.
