Job Title
EN-EI-00: Power Supply Design Engineer (Metro/Tram/Mainlines)
Purpose of the Job
As “Power Supply Design Engineer” in case of projects:
- Assist the “Power Supply Design Leader” in his role of performing the basic and detailed power supply engineering activities of a traction project (metro, tramway or mainline),
- Assist the “Power Supply Design Leader” for all interfaces with the power supply sub-system,
- Participate at the REX (Return of Experience) of the project.
Position in the Organisation
Organisation Reporting
The position reports hierarchically to the “Power Supply Engineering Manager”.
The position reports functionally to one of the “Power Supply Technical Manager” and to the “Power Supply Design Leader” of the
project.
Network & Links
The “Power Supply Design Engineer” will liaise with:
- Engineering: Power supply engineering team + other engineering teams,
- Project: Project management team,
- Site: Construction + tests and commissioning teams,
- External interface: Suppliers + Subcontractors + Customer + Partners,
- Regional Centers.
Missions
The “Power Supply Design Engineer” work will be evaluated according to the following points:
- On-time delivering: 100%,
- Respect of Design For Quality milestones: 100% Go On Time, in accordance with the standards or rules of his Metier,
- Respect of performances of the system provided: 100%,
- Quality of the works performed in the frame of Central function.
Responsibilities
As “Power Supply Design Engineer” in project:
- Perform the power supply (for high voltage / medium voltage / traction / low voltage parts) basic engineering activities of a
project:
Provide electrical architectures, technical specifications, functional specifications and interface specifications,
Provide calculation notes, develop layout & sections, relay setting calculation & inputs for system studies (e.g. Traction Power, E&B, EMC-EMI, Power Quality study, etc.)
Ensure the technical validation of the supplier’s equipment offers,
- Perform the power supply (for high voltage / medium voltage / traction / low voltage parts) detailed engineering activities of a
project:
Follow-up and validation of the technical drawings from the equipment supplier,
Provide the factory test procedures of the equipment,
Participate at the factory acceptance tests of the equipment.
- Assist the “Power Supply Design Leader” for coordination / interfaces with:
- The Alstom power supply engineering team (including automation and installation teams),
- The others sub-systems of the project, particularly: Systems, civil works, SCADA, catenary, return current, EMC, earthing & bonding, etc...
- The on-site power supply engineering team (if any),
- The customer,
- The project management team,
- The suppliers, the subcontractors, and the partners.
- Provide technical support to Construction and Test and Commissioning teams with regards to design issues,
- Participate (if requested) to the As-built documentation drawings modifications.
Job Specifications
Knowledge & Experience
- Graduated from engineering school in electrical systems,
- A minimum of two-three years of experience in electrical engineering,
- Professional experience in railway transportation,
- Good knowledge of electrical installation (high voltage, medium voltage and low voltage),
- Autonomy, motivated, initiative, and interested in technical topics,
- Fluent English, second language appreciated.
