The Role
The
Deputy Country Director – Programs
will report to AIF’s Country Director and s/he will have a team of Four (4) Regional Directors and (1) Program Director (BIF) reporting to them. The incumbent will also work closely with AIF’s Deputy Country Director - X, National Leadership of Fundraising, Communications and the National TechnicalDirectors for organizational growth and management.
While the role will be based in Okhla, New Delhi, significant travel across India will be required.The right fit for the role will be a committed and self-driven development professional with organisational and teamskills of the highest order. Apart from a proven track record of successful program execution, a strong alignment toAIF’s mission and values is necessary.
S/he would be capable of engaging effectively with a diverse and complex set of stakeholders whose breadth spans senior government officials to potential major corporate and individual donors, and an array of NGO partners, alongside Country leaders for Fundraising and Regional Directors. S/he will play a major role in creating a team withthe capacity to deliver high quality programmes across multiple states in India, and will have the detail orientation and ability to “roll up their sleeves” to drive flawless program implementation.
General management experience, excellent program implementation skills, a network amongst Indian government, international exposure (not necessarily experience), and experience of working in professional environments wouldbe strong additional qualifications that is considered desirous.The incumbent will be expected to have experience and active working knowledge of India’s development sector,prevailing regulations, and governmental norms with an interest in developing high impact intervention strategies in the areas of Education, Livelihoods and Public Health.

Key Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:·
A Master’s degree preferably in Development / Policy / Management / equivalent. The higher degree is preferred but can be relaxed for candidates with exceptional track record.·
16-20 years’ experience in the development sector with at least six (6) years in senior management roles.·
Strong knowledge and understanding of the social and development issues in India.·
Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering programs/projects, including monitoring, evaluation,and impact assessment, worth at least $ 8.0 million - $10.0 million.·
Prior experience in disaster relief work and humanitarian response at scale will be strongly preferred.

Prior experience of working within India’s development/ social-sector with proven experience in programmingand timely implementation at the ground level.·
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective partnerships with diverse stakeholders, including governmentagencies, donors, and community leaders.·
Proven Fundraising experience from a range of diversified donors including CSR, Foundations and HNIs.·
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to represent the organization effectively tovarious audiences with demonstrated ability in negotiations and networking.·
Proven ability to successfully supervise a geographically widespread team and work closely in coordination withother cross functional teams to deliver projects on-time.·
Ability to manage complex financial control and management systems.·
Ability to remain calm in a pressurized environment and lead the team in a fast – evolving & ambiguouswork environment.·
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective partnerships with diverse stakeholders, including governmentagencies, donors, and community leaders.
Key Qualifications and Personal attributes:·
