- As a Distribution Center Buyer/Planner, your main objective is to optimize inventory levels, facilitate the procurement process, and ensure timely delivery of goods to the distribution center
- You will be responsible for managing inventory levels, coordinating with suppliers, and collaborating with various departments within the organization to streamline operations
Responsibilities:
Inventory Management:
- Analyze demand forecasts and historical data to determine optimal inventory levels and reorder points.
- Monitor stock levels to ensure sufficient inventory is available to meet customer demand while minimizing excess and scrap.
- Implement inventory control measures, such as cycle counting and stock rotation, to maintain accuracy and prevent discrepancies.
Procurement:
- Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules.
- Evaluate supplier performance to ensure quality and reliability.
- Support supply risk management for critical raw materials by providing data on past performances of suppliers impacting delivery to customers and/or inventory levels.
Demand Planning:
- Work closely with demand planners and sales teams to gather accurate demand forecasts.
- Analyze market trends, historical data, and sales patterns to optimize inventory planning and replenishment strategies.
- Adjust procurement plans based on changes in demand or unforeseen events to minimize stockouts and excess inventory.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with various departments, such as logistics, buyer-planners, warehouse, and sales teams, to align inventory needs with operational requirements.
- Provide input and insights to improve inventory management processes and systems.
- Coordinate with transportation providers to ensure efficient inbound and outbound logistics.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience of 5+ years in inventory management, procurement, or supply chain planning roles within a distribution or warehouse environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to analyze data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills to interact with suppliers, internal teams, and stakeholders effectively.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of supply chain best practices and industry trends.
