Introduction:
Content Manager is a specialized role within a university's technology department. This position is responsible for overseeing, designing, developing, and maintaining effective and engaging instructional materials and learning experiences for both online and traditional courses.
Job Summary:
Content Manager collaborates with faculty members, subject matter experts, instructional designers, and other stakeholders to create pedagogically sound and learner-centered course materials. They use their expertise in instructional design principles and educational technology to enhance teaching and learning efforts while upholding academic standards and ensuring a positive educational experience for students. They ensure the quality, accuracy, and relevance of academic content.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Work with faculty and subject matter experts to identify and analyze learning needs and design effective instructional strategies and learning objectives.
2. Collaborate with instructional designers to align content with learning objectives, pedagogical strategies, and assessment methods.
3. Develop and design instructional materials, including online course content, multimedia elements, assessments, and interactive activities.
4. Utilize instructional design models and principles to create cohesive and engaging learning experiences.
5. Collaborate with multimedia specialists, graphic designers, and technology teams to integrate multimedia elements into course materials.
6. Review and edit instructional materials for accuracy, clarity, and adherence to academic standards and guidelines for diverse learners.
7. Review and evaluate existing course materials for continuous improvement and alignment with best practices.
8. Organize and manage content repositories, ensuring that materials are easily accessible to instructors and students.
9. Incorporate assessment and feedback mechanisms to measure learning outcomes and identify areas for improvement.
10. Stay updated on emerging trends and innovations in instructional design, educational technology, and e-learning.
11. Train and support faculty in the effective use of instructional technologies and course design best practices.
12. Conduct usability testing and gather feedback from students and faculty to enhance instructional materials.
Qualifications and Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
2. Proven experience in instructional design, preferably in higher education or e-learning environments.
3. Strong understanding of instructional design principles, learning theories, and adult learning principles.
4. Familiarity with e-learning authoring tools, learning management systems (LMS), and multimedia integration in course design.
5. Knowledge of accessibility standards and guidelines for creating inclusive learning materials
6. Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with faculty and subject matter experts.
7. Proficiency in project management to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
8. Creativity and problem-solving skills to develop innovative and engaging instructional materials.
9. Data-driven mindset to analyze learning outcomes and make data-informed improvements.
