Job Brief

Buffet Cook

Job Overview:
As a Buffet Cook on a cruise ship, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting a variety
of dishes for the ship's buffet service. This role demands a high level of culinary skill, creativity,
and the ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The Buffet Cook plays a
crucial role in ensuring the satisfaction of guests by delivering high-quality and visually
appealing food options.

Key Roles
a. Buffet cooks collaborate with restaurant managers to understand the type of food
needed.
b. Assisting in menu preparation, they add or remove items to keep it fresh and
enticing.
c. Assist in the preparation and service of breakfast and with crew galley food
preparation per recipes and instructions given by the galley management.
d. Man a station in the galley, assigned by the Executive Chef, in order to become
familiar with various tasks.
e. Assist with the transportation of food items from the main stores to the galley.
f. Clean and sanitize work area and utensils used,
g. Assist with breakfast service on occasion.
h. Ensure that personal appearance, uniform and personal hygiene are in
accordance with the Company’s Rules and Regulations.
i. Be punctual

Qualifications
1. Knowledge, experience, skill, and/or ability Required
2. Fluent in written and spoken English,
3. Must be able to communicate effectively with the senior management.

4. Must adhere to specific scheduled work hours, yet be flexible if circumstances require it.
5. Work with international team members.
6. Perform assigned duties under pressure (time constraints).

Experience
1. At Least One Contract on a Cruise Ship.
2. High school diploma or equivalent.
3. Formal training in hospitality, food service, or related fields is an asset.
