Job Description
- Purpose of the position
This role will assist Engineering Design Manager in design, development, and testing of power transmission products and systems to ensure proper functioning so as to deliver projects managed by the Business Unit. He/ She is expected to understand the customer requirements and integrate with manufacturing in fulfilling the customer requirements.

- Qualification & Experience required
Qualification
UG/PG in Mechanical Engineering, BE / M. Tech
Experience
7 +years in design of transmission systems & components, industrial gearboxes like heavy duty helical, planetary, pinion stands, crane duty gearboxes, vertical rolling mills. Sound knowledge of gear transmission systems is a must.

Job Responsibilities:
- Work flow management
a) Design helical, planetary, special gearboxes like crane duty, VRM gearboxes, pinion stand units Product engineering & product related new enquiries.
b) Proficiency of designing product layout in 3D CAD software (Creo preferred) and preparation of 2D manufacturing drawings.
c) Should be able to perform calculations for product design and adhere to prescribed design standards.
d) Prepare BOM for special designs and release the same in SAP ERP environment.
e) Work with enquiry team for Product selection & for confirmation of specific application in case required.
f) Manage assignment of work to team members and release periodic MIS as required.
g) Preparation of Design layout as per order and submit General arrangement drg. For customer approval.
h) Effective communication within the team and sales team for planning the urgencies.
i) Follow up with sales for technical data and information as required.
j) Internal follow up with stakeholders for meeting urgencies.
k) Follow and implementation of laid down processes and formats within the complete engineering management cycle.
l) Feasibility study of new designs, requirements & evaluation of product.
m) Follow and adopt Quality management process and if asked has to take initiative / lead for the same.
2. Customer Orientation
a) Interfacing with customer for clarification
b) Understand customer requirement.
c) Obtain customer feedback and make changes accordingly
d) Visit customer site to understand the criticality of the product
3. Integration
a) Co-ordination with engineering team & other plants engineering team for executing special orders
b) Integrate with the sales and marketing teams to understand the customer’s specific requirements and timelines
c) Interaction with cross functions like Manufacturing, IED & SCM
