The tear-down, reverse engineering and should cost lab has an immediate opening in Bangalore for anAssociate Mechanical Engineer (Metrology) to work in small teams of 3 to 5 people to perform Inspection process using 3D Metrology devices and processing of Scan/ point could data. This position is for engineer with a background in Metrology & Inspection processes or in Reverse Engineering. The engineer will use Reverse Engineering technology and resources to enable Boeing to support its businesses to leverage Boeing's unique access to 3D data to maintain a competitive advantage on OEM and non-OEM programs.


Position Responsibilities:


  • The engineer will work with metrology & inspection processes, computer aided measurement systems, portable measurement tools, dimensional measurement software and product modeling software.
  • Post Processing of point Cloud data in Spatial Analyzer Software or Polyworks.
  • Creation of Solid and Surface 3D Models by using Catia.
  • Using the tear-down and bench-marking information in order to perform value analysis and value engineering
  • Research specific technology advances for potential application to company business needs.
  • Develop and maintain relationships/partnerships with Boeing internal customers, stakeholders, peers, and partners to develop collaborative plans and execute on projects.
  • Communicate project and lab status to Boeing management.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):


  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or related field is required.
  • 5+ years of work experience in areas such as Metrology & Inspection Process, Reverse Engineering.
  • Hands on experience in applications of Portable CMM (Tactile / Laser Scanner).
  • Hands on experience in post processing of point cloud data by using Polyworks or Geomagic or Spatial Analyzer software.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):


  • Hands on experience in applications of Portable CMM(Hexagon/Faro/Nikon).
  • CMM & PCMM Applications with Tactile and Laser Scanner (Non-Contact) probes.
  • Processing 3D scan data with measurement/metrology software such as Polyworks, Spatial Analyzer, Geomagic or Verisurf.
  • Experience in 3-D Computer Aided Design methods and CAD tools such as CATIA and/or other design methods is preferred.
  • Knowledge of aerospace design, manufacturing and assembly processes/techniques.
  • Experience with one or more of the following is required: metrology & inspection processes, computer aided measurement systems, dimensional measurement software.
  • Working knowledge of developing cost models and DFM. Understanding of the cost & design trades required to develop and document complex mechanical systems.
  • Self-starter who is not afraid to pro-actively seek information and direction to successfully complete the statement of work.
  • Strong written, oral, presentation and interpersonal communication skills. Be fluent in written and spoken English, and familiar with MS Office tools.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively with very strong teaming skills. Must be willing to work flexible hours (early or late as needed) to interface with Boeing personnel around the world.

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 to 8 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master 4 to 7 years' related work experience, etc.).
