Job Description:
• Performs daily administration of AIX servers to prevent outage and plans for optimized system resource utilization.
• Maintains integrity and reliability of servers through the development of procedures and standards.
• Supports standards and practices with technical and business personnel as needed. Performs capacity planning as required.
• Assists in the development and implementation of standards for system/server maintenance and configuration.
• Automates routine maintenance tasks as appropriate. Ensures proper backups procedures are in place and in use.
• Work with developers to optimize system resource utilization.
• Provides server/systems related assistance to other departments as needed.
• Assignments are of a complex nature requiring technical knowledge and experience to develop and implement unique solutions.
• Day to day administration of the backup environment and making sure there are no anamolies in the same.
• Additional Duties and Responsibilities: Duties which may be performed on an as-needed basis or on infrequent intervals:On-call rotation with the UNIX team
• Ability to work after hours and periodic holidays to conduct system maintenance
• Development of effective team processes and procedures
• Act as subject matter expert on assigned systems
Skills/Qualifications:
• Minimum of seven years experience as an AIX Administrator facilitating the installation, configuration, tuning, security, backup, upgrades and troubleshooting of IBM AIX. Past involvement in a production environment with 24x7 uptime requirements is preferred.
• Prior working experience on any backup tools or technology like Avamar, TSM etc.
• Specialized Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Expertise with AIX 5.1 thru 7.0, HMCs, NIM Administration, SMIT, LVM, KSH scripting is required.
• Experience managing/configuring WPAR, LPAR, and VIO client partitions and SAN storage (EMC and IBM) is a plus.
• Linux System Administration with 5+ years’ experience (Preferably in RHEL 6/7 and AIX 5/7).
• VMware ESXi 6.5 with 3-4 years experience
• Experience on working with Storage technologies like SAN, NFS, CIFS etc.
• Support SAN, NAS, Fiber Channel, LUNS, LVM, EMC Isilon using OneFS Web Management Console, NetAPP,Nimble and QLogic.
• Hardware experience with Cisco UCS Blades B-Series and C-Series Rack servers.
• Experience on supporting Linux applications including but not limited to Tibco, Websphere, Apache HTTPD, MySQL, Redis, Zookeeper, Solr, Oracle ATG, Oracle RAC 11g/12c Cluster, Atlassian Confluence, Jira, CMS, Casper, Bitbucket, Informatica, Bamboo Rose, IBM Sterling OMS, Netezza, FreeRADIUS, Pydio, Vertex and VMware on Linux ESX platform
