Job description

As the Head - Rural Insurance, Assam State, you will be responsible for developing and executing distribution strategies to reach rural customers effectively based in Guwahati. You will play a pivotal role in setting up women (Bima Vahak) centric dedicated distribution channel that is focused on enhancing insurance inclusion and creating awareness in every village / Gram Panchayat.To identify and develop resources locally who understand and appreciate local needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Distribution Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive distribution strategy for rural areas especially for Appointment of Bima Vahak's in the Gram Panchayat's.
- Training and Development: Provide training and support to corporate distribution partners and Bima Vahaks to ensure they are well-equipped to promote and sell our financial products and services effectively.
- Network Expansion: Expand our rural distribution network by identifying and onboarding new channel partners, corporate Bima Vahaks, or business correspondents in rural regions apart from setting up local teams or offices in the assigned state.
- Insurance Awareness Initiative: Set up Health Awareness Camps in Rural, Urban areas and execute local awareness and activation programs to promote financial literacy, build trust, and engage with rural communities effectively and also work closely with Nodal Officers of the State Government.
- Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure that all distribution activities comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies and implement risk mitigation measures.
- Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor the performance of distribution channels and agents, track KPIs, and implement corrective actions as needed to achieve targets.
- Strategic Partnerships: Identify and establish strategic partnerships with local organizations, government agencies, IRDA stakeholders, Local marketing & PR agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders to enhance distribution reach and impact.
- Customer Engagement: Implement initiatives to enhance customer engagement,promote financial literacy, and build trust within rural communities.
- Budget Management: Develop and manage the budget for rural distribution activities, ensuring cost-effective operations and resource allocation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Marketing, or a related field. MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in rural distribution or sales leadership roles in the financial services or Insurance industry.
- Strong understanding of rural markets, customer behaviour, and regulatory frameworks in India.
- Proven track record of building and managing distribution networks in rural areas.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Result-oriented mindset with a focus on achieving targets and driving business growth.
- Knowledge of financial products and services, including savings, credit, insurance, and digital payment solutions.
- Familiarity with technology and digital platforms used for financial services delivery in rural areas.
