Shell Trading integrates a global portfolio of crude oil, refined products, natural gas, electrical power, chemicals and freight trading based in the UK, US, Canada, Singapore, The Netherlands, Japan, Barbados, United Arab Emirates, The Philippines and Russia. Additionally, it provides marine expertise to operating units and manages a substantial fleet of vessels. Currently the team is broadly divided into two areas, North America (NA), WONA (World outside NA) & Global Freight.

What’s the role?

As we transition to cleaner forms of energy, the challenge facing the energy industry in the coming decades is considerable. To support Shell’s ambition, Analyst – Trading Settlements will be responsible of processing commodity invoices on a daily basis to complete the settlements activities of STUSCO Products line of business. The individual is expected to collaboratively work with the team thereby ensuring the settlements activities are completed end to end on time and required to support reporting activities of the team month on month. The role offers a challenging opportunity in a fast moving, dynamic and global trading environment.

  • Ensure 100% on-time (as determined by the contractual terms) and accurate (as determined by the controls framework) processing of invoices.
  • Ensure vendor disputes are resolved within in a short turnaround time of 2 working days.
  • Ensure the process KPIs are achieved with appropriate reasoning for non-achievement.
  • Ensure all Trackers / Reports are maintained at 100% (Timeliness & Accuracy)
  • Timely review of WI’s and co-ordinate with supervisors for updation.
  • Timely escalation of pending issues.
  • Daily review of the Purchase TAT report and update with adequate reasons.
  • Follow i-Pad toolkit.
  • Follow documented Work Instructions and agreed Ways of Working with no deviations.
  • Follow the escalation matrix defined for the process.
  • Ensure the Payables are processed on time and within SLA.
  • Ensure Queries are handled promptly as per the expectation.
  • Ensure the receivable are followed-up proactively and cash realized on or before the contractual due date.
  • Ensure overdue receivable are escalated timely with a clear explanation of the disputes.
  • Effectively participate in the daily VM huddle.

What we need from you?

  • Professional / Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance or related business degree.
  • Strong experience in Accounts payable domain with relevant years of experience as appropriate for the job groups.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with a short turn-around time involving complexities and competing priorities.
  • Proven ability to work pro-actively and with minimum supervision.
  • Good Microsoft Access and Excel skills. Good Knowledge of SAP is highly preferred.
  • Good awareness of underlying business, financial and fiscal issues with respect to energy/commodity trading and shipping.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively across all cultures both within the organization and with external counterparties.
  • Proven ability to effectively challenge whilst remaining customer focused and exhibiting commercial mindset.
  • Good accounting knowledge to understand the flow of entries in the e2e Accounts Payable
  • Process to gain subject matter expertise.

Work Schedule

  • US business hours coverage is expected to be provided all through the month with a routine shift time of 6 pm to 3 am. The shift will be extending during critical days of business depending workflow of invoices.
  • Working in flexible shift (4 pm to 1 am or 6 pm to 03 am) to stay connected with the business continuously considering the process requirements and complexities
