Online fraud protection specialist

Key Responsibilities:

The Online fraud protection specalist will play a critical role in safeguarding our e-commerce platform against potential threats and ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive data. This role involves designing, implementing, and maintaining security measures to protect our e-commerce infrastructure and customer information.

Oversee the day-to-day operations of our e-commerce platform(s), ensuring smooth functionality and user-friendly navigation

Lead and conduct investigations into suspected fraud events by applying analytical skills to assess claims and transactions for evidence of fraudulent or abusive behaviour.

Evaluate products, systems, and services for potential vulnerabilities from fraudulent attacks & analyse and interpret ongoing fraud trends

Identify gaps and propose refinements to combat emerging fraud threats proactively.

Generate comprehensive status reports to summarise anti-fraud performance on the platforms & to assess the effectiveness of existing control measures.

Design, perform, and deliver Proof of Concepts (POCs) to test new fraud prevention techniques and technologies, providing actionable insights based on POC results.

Ensure that cases, investigations, and prioritisation decisions are fully documented

Regularly review and propose adjustments to fraud policy documentation based on the evolving fraud landscape and industry best practices and ensuring it aligns with regulatory standards.

Collaborate with IT and development teams to integrate fraud protection best practices into the software development lifecycle.

Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations and standards related to e-commerce security and fraud protection.

Implement strategies to increase customer satisfaction, retention, and loyalty.

Stay informed about industry trends, e-commerce technologies, and best practices.

Recommend and implement innovative solutions to improve the online shopping experience and stay ahead of the competition.

Essential Skills and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field.

Proven experience (5+ years) in e-commerce security or a similar role.

Familiarity with popular e-commerce platforms (eg: Shopify, BigCommerce, Magento)

In-depth knowledge of fraud prevention technologies, protocols, and best practices.

Experience with web application security, including secure coding practices.

Familiarity with compliance standards and tools such as PCI DSS, SIFT, OFAC, FedRAMP.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and generate actionable insights.

Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

Knowledge of threat intelligence and security incident response.

Familiarity with e-commerce platforms and their security challenges.
