Job description

As a Staffing Advisor at ERM, you will work at the very intersection of our business and our people. The impact you will deliver is through understanding the work that needs to be done in order to make a sustainable impact on our world and, finding the people who will bring that work to fruition. This is a full-time opportunity as part of the APAC People Team, allowing you to expand your knowledge of our business operations while sharing your technical knowledge with our People Team. Your role as Staffing Advisor has two critical components among many others. First is the “Resource Planning” portion of the role. This is the ability to interpret and understand the needs of client projects based on the use of various systems and tools, and your experience and understanding of the business. In this capacity you will work with Partners, Project Managers, and other senior leaders to understand the needs of their project work and the specific types of expertise they seek. You will also have your finger on the pulse of staff that are rolling off projects and proactively work with them to connect them to other projects. You will also learn a great deal about the most important topics of our time – from climate change and sustainability to environment, health and safety – and everything in between. The second critical component of your role is the “Coaching” component. This component of the role involves understanding a cohort of consultants that you will work with on their career journey at ERM. Effectively you are their career coach – knowing what path they want to follow and helping them to follow that career path in a way that both matches their aspirations and leverages the work that is available at ERM. You are indeed the center of it all – enabling people to fully realize their talents and enabling the best solutions for our clients. Your Impact The Staffing Advisor is responsible for reviewing open project staffing needs (managing and understanding status and accuracy), talking with Partners, Project Managers, and other leaders, determining strong fits and creating teams that work well together. The Staffing Advisor is also responsible for collaborating with the Project Manager on deciding between candidates for different projects and on working proactively with consultants on their forecasted workload before they become available. The Staffing Advisor supports both account and employee growth; manages staffing changes on projects, data integrity, fulfilment and utilization; communicates availability, guides prioritization conversations; and is a partner with the hiring, commercial and operational teams. Day to Day responsibilities and activities
  • Fulfilment of and reporting on day-to-day staffing requests, collaborating with Partners, Project Managers, senior leaders, and operations managers
  • Contribute to reporting for utilization trends and forecasts
  • Maintain an inventory of core skills and track team members’ skills by proficiency and context of use
  • Coach and guide individuals in their selection of projects to support career development
  • Ensure new hires are connected to meaningful work quickly
  • Maintain and communicate key information about current projects, pipeline and resource forecast and provide regular status updates
  • Elevate the need for training or hiring requests when skill gaps are identified
Your skills and experience
  • Excellent communication skills — written and verbal/presentation
  • Proven ability to communicate efficiently with all levels of internal stakeholders
  • Relationship management and influencing skills
  • Ability to take complex issues or situations and present them in a simple and easy to follow manner
  • Outstanding organizational awareness and change management skills
  • Detail-oriented working style with a strong business focus
  • Outstanding organization and multi-tasking skills
  • Service-oriented attitude (flexible, personable, approachable)
  • Excellent negotiation and leadership skills operating with absolute professionalism and confidentiality
  • Ability to prioritize workload and delegate to other operations team members
  • Ability to provide and receive feedback in a constructive manner
Role Requirements
  • 4+ years of experience in consulting, including with aspects of resource management planning
  • 4+ years of industry or Project/Program Coordination experience; proven ability to manage complex initiatives to successful completion preferable
  • 3+ years of ERM experience and strong knowledge of ERM’s service lines including people and projects in Sustainable Operations, Health and Safety, or Liability Portfolio Management and Remediation preferred but not mandatory
