repares and completes tax returns and reports involved with federal, state, local, property, sales, and other tax liabilities. Responsible for meeting all required deadlines. Maintains current knowledge of all tax laws affecting the company. Reviews proposals for tax implications and recommends actions that meet the business plans while managing the tax liability. Assists in tax audits. May be involved with tax implications of mergers and acquisitions.

Working at NTT

The Taxation Accountant is responsible for preparing and submitting tax statements and returns for the company. This position is required to provide advice on financial and tax matters. The Taxation Accountant holds expertise and provides support to ensure tax legislation and planning compliance. This position takes responsibility for all related documentation, support and research any relevant issues, responding to tax correspondence and assisting with the preparation of the quarterly and annual tax provision and related tax accounting.

Key roles and responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the senior professionals to ensure that employees adhere to tax rules when performing their tasks and those rules comply with industry practices and accounting principles
  • Use tax form instructions and tax tables to make proper entries on tax submission forms
  • Assist with the development of corporate tax plan that ensure proper reporting of tax planning initiatives
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of all relevant direct and indirect tax returns
  • Find tax solution to complicated tax issues or errors from incorrect tax filings
  • Assisting management by ensuring that an efficient system is in place that will contribute to improving internal controls
  • Assist with the management of tax software and implement new features and updates as and when required
  • Co-ordinate specific processes to support the implementation and execution of the taxation cycle in accordance with the relevant laws and regulations
  • Prepare tax returns to ensure their alignment to federal and state income taxes for NTT at a local level for quarterly and annual federal and related tax compliance
  • Assist with the preparation of the quarterly and annual tax provision and related tax accounting such as the reconciliation of tax data on financial statements
  • Prepare a large number of documents on behalf of the company including written correspondence and documents to be submitted to the relevant taxation bodies
  • Prepare responses related to all types of tax and collate the information required for tax audits and queries raised by taxation regulators in the region
  • Obtain any supporting documents and compile tax schedules for annual income tax returns
  • Assist with the co-ordination and review of the payment of taxes
  • Effectively managing tax risks and liabilities associated with intricate business transactions such as mergers and acquisitions
  • Remain abreast of developments and trends in their area of focus
  • Review and analyse proposals for tax implications and recommend actions that meet business objectives while managing the tax liability

Academic qualifications and certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Taxation
  • Registered with a professional body as Tax Practitioner

Experience required:

  • Demonstrated work experience in similar position
  • Demonstrated wor experience in a related environment
  • Some experience dealing with internal and external stakeholders
