Senior Data Science Specialist, Frostbyte

Snowflake’s frostbyte Industry Solutions team is actively seeking a Sr. Data Platform Specialist - a proven technical specialist that will play a leading role in solution and technical asset development. In this role, you will work in a highly collaborative, agile team to design and build innovative technical solutions that will help solve the world’s most complex technical challenges. You will have the opportunity to apply your technical experience to innovate with the Snowflake Data Cloud, in total alignment with various stakeholders in product, sales engineering, and marketing.

The Sr. Data Science Specialist will have the autonomy to define and lead aspects of solution development as part of a self-directing agile team, building strong and compelling technical assets alongside the broader team, and continuously evolving and innovating on those assets. Reporting to the Sr. Manager of frostbyte Industry Solutions, you will be part of a high caliber team of builders, inventors, and innovators that will design, build, and evangelize as a cohesive unit - making technical assets scalable, repeatable and consistent on a global scale for both internal and external audiences.

IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL GET TO:

• Take full ownership over your technical work streams and execute solution development, in alignment with cross-functional groups - sales, marketing, sales engineering, partners
• Collaborate and define solution scope and architecture with the frostbyte team architect and scrum master, building new Machine Learning / Data Science assets and also continuously evolving existing ones to show the latest and greatest innovations on the Snowflake Data Cloud.
• Build technical assets according to a high standard for innovation and technical rigor to fully differentiate Snowflake’s Machine Learning capabilities - enabling the entirety of Snowflake to understand and position the business value and technical design of frostbyte industry solutions.
• From idea, to design, to build, to demo, to consumption: Generate or build upon ideas as a team, and work as a unit to define use-case/feature definition, technical design elements, storyboarding, validation, and build, for both internal and external use.
• World-class assets and technical standards: Work with the broader frostbyte team to maintain and continuously evolve Snowflake’s solutions / central demo assets to stay ahead of the competition, and ensure mission critical systems are maintained and secure.
• Set the bar high: collaborate with stakeholders around the globe to take the technical assets created to market, and set the example for how it should be talked to or delivered. You will have the opportunity to present to customers, Snowflake + third party events and webinars, internal enablement videos and executive / all-hands presentations to show what good looks like.
• Monitor and respond to inquiries and requests from stakeholders, working with the broader team to execute on issues, feature requests, or demo roadmap items that are in the project backlog. Work with technical teams to coordinate backlog grooming and execution.
• Create & maintain related technical enablement assets - setup scripts, execution scripts, setup and integration guides, technical videos, readme files and documentation.
• Deliver solution + demo training to solution engineers alongside the broader frostbyte team - to raise awareness and familiarity on the business value of machine learning, and technical components of demo assets; communicate & market demo release updates across various internal communication channels - new demos, new feature additions, innovative design patterns, and roadmap items/release notes.
• Partner closely with the Solution Development Manager, working with product management and product marketing on Snowflake’s ML/AI product roadmap and industry launch events, participate in marquee events throughout the year.
• Helping shape future innovations by identifying emerging trends, white-space opportunities for Snowflake, and building new programs within identified features.
• Bring clear strategic thinking and excellent problem-solving skills to a range of sales and operational processes.
• Cultivate relationships and collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Sales Engineering and Product Marketing to drive strategic initiatives for Snowflake.
• Leverage our sales engineering enablement platforms to effectively deploy, manage and measure industry sales engineering training.

ON DAY ONE WE WILL EXPECT YOU TO HAVE:

• 7+ years of experience in Data Science / Machine Learning
• In-depth knowledge of Python, SQL required; familiarity with Scala, Java, R or C++ is a plus
• Experience with MLOps / distributed computing preferred
• Experience with Data Science tools such as Sagemaker, Data Iku, DataRobot a plus
• Direct experience working in the SaaS space. Experience working with / around other functional areas are desired; Data Warehouse, Cloud Tools, Analytics and/or Business Intelligence.
• Broad range of experience with on-prem and/or cloud databases.
• Knowledge or hands on experience of Snowflake preferred
• Strong analytical / mathematical skills, proven ability to use technology to solve complex business problems
• Ability to work within cross-functional teams, being able to communicate effectively between business and technical stakeholders
• Organized and able to manage and deliver multiple tasks efficiently, effectively and on time in a metrics based organization
• Excellent technical writing, communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with both internal and external business and technical teams.
• Bachelor’s Degree required. Masters Degree in Data Science, computer science, engineering, mathematics or related fields, or equivalent experience preferred
• Experience using JIRA is a plus.
