Collectively, they are driving major research programs and initiatives to decarbonize power, accelerate renewables, and promote electrification and the creation of a 21st century grid fit to power a zero-carbon energy future.GE Vernova is seeking an experienced Electrical Technologies Analyst with an electrical engineering domain (power systems, electrical machines, power electronics, etc.) to join our IP team.
In this position you will work collaboratively across GE Vernova Advanced Research to drive technical and organizational strategy, ensure team execution and operational excellence, and provide guidance and coaching to team members on technical and career direction, all in support of GE Vernova’s mission to be a leader in the Energy Transition.
As a GE Vernova ARC & Electrical Technologies Analyst (Technology / IP development & Commercialization), you will search for and analyze technology, intellectual property, and business information in support of technology development and Intellectual Property commercialization in the domain of Electrical technologies including Power Systems, Power Electronics, Electromechanical machines, Renewable Grid integration, Micro grids etc. Your analysis will enable various GE Vernova businesses to develop new technologies / products, develop IP strategy, as well as commercialize technologies via different routes including licensing and technology transfer.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Responsibilities include driving technical and organizational strategy, ensuring operational excellence (safety & compliance, finance, resource planning) and enabling project execution.
- Work closely with the Global Technology teams collaboratively across GE Vernova business and partner with stakeholders to develop/refine the vision and strategy.
- Analyze and evaluate technical aspects of invention disclosures and existing patents in the domain of electrical engineering.
- Conduct searches on patent and other open literature data bases for prior art, patentability, infringement, validity and freedom to operate analysis.
- Develop patent landscapes, understand emerging technologies in the electrical sector and provide actionable insights based on patent trends, technology white spaces and early risk identification.
- Use understanding of technology, Intellectual Property and Business scenarios to provide strategic insights and roadmaps.
- Work closely with GE research technologists and licensing commercial leaders to analyze value propositions to identify licensing opportunities, valuing IP assets and conduct due diligence on potential licensees or licensors.
- Work in collaboration with patent attorneys, licensing professionals, technologists, and business development teams.
- Engage in advanced interdisciplinary projects that span across multiple disciplines of engineering.
Required Qualifications:
Advanced (master’s or PhD) in Electrical / Controls / Power Systems / Power Electronics / related fields.
Excellent understanding in core electrical system technologies, with reasonable knowledge on the other fields.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in technology R&D or technology / IP analysis, with focus on Electrical Technologies.
Strong passion for technology & keen interest in developing business acumen. Willing to learn and adapt to new technologies.
Strong research and analytical skills. Ability to provide a logical framework to support conclusions.
Desired Characteristics:
Prior experience in Research & Development or Technology development in electrical systems
Prior experience of technology commercialization and Licensing / monetization analytics.
Working knowledge of patent law, and experience in intellectual property analysis.
Understanding of basic financial/accounting concepts; Basic understanding of market analysis
Knowledge of excel programming would be an added advantage.
