Job Responsibilities for Software Engineer Senior:

About the Team:

The candidate must be able to successfully communicate with internal teams as well as client personnel in order to deliver industry-leading solutions, detailed functional designs and complex environments throughout the entire lifecycle of the project. Demonstrated hands on experience with Cognos Analytics and should have delivered at least 2 end to end projects on Cognos Analytics V 11.x. Develop, document, test, modify and maintain new and existing ETL components of software applications. Learn and apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to the development life cycle. Through time and exposure, gain specific application and technology knowledge to participate in and contribute to the specification and design development process for ETL components across the portfolio.

What You Will Be Doing  

• BE /BS or Equivalent with 8+ Years of overall experience in a BI Tech Lead/ Developer.
• At least 5+ years of experience as a Cognos BI Developer.
• To develop detailed list reports, crosstab reports, senior management dashboards, and integration reports using Cognos Analytics (v. 11).
• To develop and maintain Cognos Framework Manager models for the GRC Reporting Data Warehouse.
• Should understand the overall BI architecture and individual components of Cognos Analytics 11.X
• Hands on experience in managing admin tasks for a large Cognos Analytics platform.
• Experience in upgrades / migration of Cognos reporting platform
• Data validation and remediation of issues arising from the platform upgrade.
• Hands on experience in relational as well as dimensional modeling
• Reporting against different data sources like snowflake etc.
• Experience in leveraging SQL for reporting and data validation purposes.
• Designing Cognos Models/Packages
• Define & Implement robust Row Level & Column Level security.
• Designing and developing multi-dimensional reports, Dashboards & Visualizations
• Set up Report scheduling and distribution using out of box functionality or custom automation solution.
• Setting up and integrating security model with AD or other directory services
• Experience using the Cognos Java SDK.
• Experience with writing JavaScript and using it to extend the functionality of Cognos Report Studio.
• Experience with the Cognos Microsoft Office plug-in.

What will you Bring

• Create, modify and test various SQL queries, stored procedures and views for obtaining data from diverse source systems and platforms.
• Assist in the roll-out of new SQL based applications, problem fixes, and enhancements of software.
• Follow Microsoft SQL and database best practices to improve the operational reporting environment while focusing on resolving problems raised by team members, stakeholders and end users.
• Implement ETL and other data movement requirements using SQL and Microsoft SSIS
• Develops original and/or complex code in T-SQL
• Design and develop new SQL code as part of an ETL process.
• Improve SQL procedures, Window services / .NET programs which transform and load data.
• Develop stored procedures functions using T-SQL
• Responsible for data profiling, source-target mappings, ETL development, SQL tunings and optimization, testing and implementation.
• Under direct supervision, write new ETL code using prescribed specifications and design documentation in accordance with SSIS standards.
• Modify, test and troubleshoot existing programs/software utilizing the appropriate hardware, database, and development/programming technology.
• Contribute to feature and functionality planning. Execute coding/modification of new and existing programs/software with focus on user experience and optimal program/system performance.
• Maintain and modify ETL programs/software. Make recommendations for improvements and/or remedies to issues encountered. Implement approved changes by amending ETL flow charts, developing detailed ETL logic, and making changes to code. Write and maintain development/programming/systems documentation, as well as operations and user guides (as required).
• Document development/programming problems and resolutions for future reference.
• -Effectively unit test all ETL code and programs prior to releasing them to SIT and UAT testing resources. Resolve unit test issues in a timely manner.

Educational Qualification: •       A Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science or other related discipline or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.
