We are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Counsel with a specialization in litigation, particularly in tax litigation. The ideal candidate should have a proven track record of handling complex legal matters, representing companies in court, and providing strategic counsel on litigation disputes.
Responsibilities:
- Litigation Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive litigation strategy aligned with the company's business objectives. Provide strategic legal advice to senior management on potential legal risks and implications.
- Tax Litigation: Lead and oversee tax litigation matters, representing the company in court proceedings related to tax disputes. Collaborate with tax professionals to ensure effective handling of tax-related legal challenges.
- Company Litigation Disputes: Manage and oversee a variety of company litigation disputes, including contractual, employment, and regulatory matters. Directly represent the company in court hearings and other legal proceedings.
- Legal Compliance: Stay abreast of changes in laws and regulations relevant to the company's operations. Ensure that the company's activities comply with all applicable legal requirements.
- Risk Management: Assess and manage legal risks associated with business decisions and operations. Implement risk mitigation strategies to protect the company's interests.
- Contract Review and Negotiation: Review, draft, and negotiate contracts with an emphasis on protecting the company's legal interests. Provide legal guidance on contract-related matters.
- Team Leadership: Lead and manage a legal team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior legal professionals.
- Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR): Explore and leverage alternative dispute resolution mechanisms to resolve legal conflicts efficiently.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction.
- 15-18 years of experience in legal practice, with a focus on litigation. Proven experience in handling tax litigation cases.
- Strong courtroom presence and experience representing companies in legal proceedings. In-depth knowledge of corporate law, contract law, and tax law. Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Strategic thinker with the ability to provide proactive legal advice.
Nice to Have: Experience in multinational legal matters. Familiarity with international tax laws. Previous in-house counsel experience. Specialized training or certification in tax law.
