A Lab Technician is a professional who is involved in every aspect of laboratory work, from recording data to maintaining equipment. Here are some key responsibilities:
- Receiving, labeling, and analyzing samples: Lab technicians handle various types of samples (such as blood, toxic substances, or tissue) and ensure accurate labeling and analysis.
- Designing and executing laboratory testing: They follow standard procedures to conduct experiments, verify or reject hypotheses, and record observations using refined scientific methods.
- Maintaining safety and organization: Lab technicians organize and store chemicals, fluids, and compressed gases according to safety guidelines. They also ensure strict adherence to safety protocols within the laboratory.
- Recording data and results: Accurate record-keeping is essential. Lab technicians document all experimental data and test results in specified forms (both paper and electronic).
- Equipment maintenance: They clean, sterilize, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment. Additionally, they assist in ordering necessary supplies.
- Technical support: Lab technicians provide technical assistance when needed and stay updated on relevant scientific and technical developments.
