Roles and responsibilities
- 10+ Years of experience in DB2 DBA with Replication IIDR(IBM Infosphere Data Replication)
- Database Installation and Configuration: Installing and configuring Db2 LUW database software on servers.
- Backup and Recovery: Implementing and testing backup and recovery procedures to safeguard data integrity.
- Performance Tuning: Monitoring and optimizing database performance to ensure efficient operation.
- Security Management: Managing user access and ensuring database security through proper authentication and authorization processes.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnosing and resolving database-related issues, including errors, performance bottlenecks, and connectivity problems.
- Database Design: Collaborating with developers to design and implement database structures that meet application requirements.
- Patch and Version Management: Applying patches and updates to keep the database system current and secure.
- Capacity Planning: Estimating future database growth and planning for additional capacity as needed.
- Documentation: Maintaining comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Collaboration: Working with other IT professionals, such as system administrators and application developers, to ensure smooth integration and optimal performance.
- Automation: Implementing automation scripts and tools for routine tasks to enhance efficiency.
- Monitoring: Setting up and maintaining database monitoring tools to proactively identify issues and trends.
- Training: Providing training and support to end-users and colleagues on database-related matters.
- Compliance: Ensuring that the database environment complies with relevant regulations and standards.
- Disaster Recovery Planning: Developing and testing disaster recovery plans to minimize data loss in the event of a system failure.
- Meets commitments and always provides excellent customer service with internal and external clients.
- Provides status reports (written and/or verbal) that are detailed to tasks and difficulties encountered – enables managers to initiate escalation if necessary and assess areas where changes or additional support may be warranted.
- Creates physical database objectives following established standards and processes employed by database team.
- Provides 24/7 support of production database environments.
Skills & requirement:
- Overall experience of 10+ yrs in IT
- Overall experience of 6+ yrs as DB2 admin LUW & experience with IIDR(IBM Infosphere Data Replication)
- Excellent Working knowledge of DBMS
- Effective communication and team skills with an ability to cooperate, present to and participate with peers/team members
- Good knowledge of Linux/Unix/Windows operating systems and systems administration concepts
- Being current with latest technology concepts
- Good problem solving, analytical and critical thinking skills
- Identifies and resolves less clearly defined problems using established procedures and/or protocols as guidelines.
