Job Description:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Campus Counselor to join our team at Candigarh University in Lucknow. The Campus Counselor will play a pivotal role in providing mental health support, guidance, and counseling services to students, faculty, and staff members. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in counseling, exceptional communication skills, and a passion for supporting the holistic well-being of individuals within the campus community.

Responsibilities:

  • Individual Counseling: Provide confidential counseling services to students facing personal, academic, or emotional challenges. Conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and facilitate goal-setting to support students in overcoming obstacles and achieving personal growth.

  • Crisis Intervention: Offer immediate support and intervention in crisis situations such as mental health emergencies, suicidal ideation, or traumatic incidents. Collaborate with relevant campus resources and external agencies to ensure the safety and well-being of students in crisis.

  • Group Counseling: Facilitate psychoeducational groups and support groups on topics relevant to student needs, such as stress management, mindfulness, relationship skills, etc. Create a safe and inclusive environment for group participants to share experiences and support one another.

  • Outreach and Prevention: Develop and implement campus-wide programs and initiatives aimed at promoting mental health awareness, resilience, and prevention of mental health issues. Conduct workshops, training sessions, and outreach activities to educate the campus community about available resources and destigmatize seeking help.

  • Consultation: Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administrators to address concerns related to student well-being, behavior management, and crisis response. Provide consultation on best practices for supporting students with mental health concerns and offer guidance on campus policies and procedures.

  • Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential records of counseling sessions, assessments, and interventions in compliance with ethical standards and legal requirements. Ensure confidentiality and privacy of student information at all times.

  • Professional Development: Stay updated on current trends, research, and best practices in the field of counseling and mental health. Pursue opportunities for professional development, including attending conferences, workshops, and training programs to enhance counseling skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or higher in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as a counselor or therapist in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
  • Minimum of [X] years of experience providing counseling services in an educational or clinical setting, preferably with college-aged populations.
  • Strong understanding of ethical guidelines and legal requirements related to counseling practice and confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and demonstrate cultural competence in counseling practice.
  • Proficiency in Hindi and English languages (written and verbal).
  • Experience with crisis intervention, risk assessment, and suicide prevention strategies is desirable.
  • Knowledge of relevant assessment tools, therapeutic modalities, and evidence-based practices in counseling.
